Jake has been giving new life to the lost art form of Scherenschnitte! 🇩🇪 You can find his handmade art on our shelves at Welcome Home Thrift & More ❤️ across from the beautiful, Stoudtburg Village!

Here is some Scherenschnitte history:

🇩🇪🇨🇭Scherenschnitte is a paper cutting Folk Art form that originated in Switzerland and Germany in the 16th century.

✂️ “Scherenschnitte” translates to "scissor cuts" in German.

🇺🇸 Dutch immigrants brought Scherenschnitte to America in the 18th century.

🐄 The art form was especially popular in Pennsylvania, particularly Lancaster County.

💌 The art usually focused on life's significant milestones: birth, courtship, marriage, raising a family, death, and more.
