Third coats the charmer. A little touch up near the bottom gasket and clean up on the bottom gasket makes this side finished.
Taking it in sections so the fridge has minimal down time. On to side two before taking it down to do the inside trimming.

Excited for our new $100 fridge.
That's right....supplies for this job were right around 100 bucks along with a little sweat equity ...anything is possible.

SECOND COAT

Some observations about Valspar Direct to Metal:

Pros:

Tintable to pretty much any color you could imagine
Makes metal easily paintable without a primer.
Inhibits rust.
Different sheens available to make it scrubable and washable
Can be used on some other materials so a gallon is not a waste

Cons:

I find it thin and hard to pour from the gallon without a mess
Will probably take 4 coats for a smooth even finish
Eggshell sheen looks great

I had this tinted to match Sherwin Williams Iron Ore, which is going to be a great color on this old fridge.

Just cleaned 40 plus years of junk off this fridge. We were going to move it outside but in the wise words of my brother 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it". We have decided to paint it to go along with the rest of kitchen refresh.
