People walk in here for the first time and just stop in the doorway.

I've seen it a hundred times and it still makes me smile.

There's always a lamp that needs a home, a piece of wall art that belongs somewhere specific, a holiday find that shows up in exactly the right season. I don't plan it that way, it just fills in.

That's what happens when you've been at this long enough.

There are days that deserve to be quiet for a moment. This is one of them.

I think about the people behind the sacrifice. The families, the mothers and fathers, the kids who grew up without someone at the table. That's what today is really about.

Thank you to every person who served, and to every family who gave more than most of us can imagine. We remember.
