The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition engaged DAG Architects Inc. in collaboration with Cooper Carry to design a new research facility in downtown PensacolaFlorida. The Institute for Human & Machine Cognition (IHMC) pioneers technologies aimed at leveraging and extending human capabilities. Focusing on Healthspan Resilience and performance research, the 3 story laboratory includes a ground-level gym for studying physical interventions on the human body. The second floor is primarily labs where researchers study nutrition and its effects on humans, with wet labs filling the top floor. Created at the University of West Florida, IHMC has a main campus in historic downtown Pensacola opened in 1999 as part of the city’s urban core revitalization, and a branch campus in Ocala, opened in 2010. The new building is located within Pensacola’s historic district and serves as a gateway to that area.
