Some of the most impactful moments in a home are not always the loudest ones. A staircase is passed through every day, but when thoughtfully designed, it becomes part of the overall rhythm and feeling of the home itself.⁠
⁠
For this project, the combination of tailored millwork, soft coastal influences, and the warmth of the runner was intended to create a transition that feels calm, welcoming, and connected to the architecture surrounding it.⁠

A reminder that even the spaces designed for movement deserve the same level of consideration as the rooms we spend the most time in.⁠

We are incredibly honored to see our northern coastal Maine project featured in the June/July 2026 issue of Ocean Home Magazine!

Designed as a coastal retreat for longtime clients, this home was thoughtfully developed over three years to feel deeply rooted in its surroundings while supporting the rhythms of family life for generations to come.⁠

A thoughtfully designed landscape does more than enhance a property’s appearance… it shapes the experience of home.

Long before you step through the front door, the landscape establishes a sense of arrival. It frames views, creates connection to place, and serves as an extension of the interior, setting the tone for everything that follows.

When designed with intention, gardens also support the rhythms of daily life. From morning coffee on the patio to evenings spent gathering with family and friends, they create opportunities for rituals, connection, and enjoyment throughout the seasons.

In this conversation, interior designer Becky Wein of and garden designer Eileen Stoveld of share their expert perspectives on the interplay of home and landscape, and how the most successful properties are those considered holistically and shaped with intention, expertise, and care.

By day, this built-in bar disappears seamlessly behind custom cabinetry, allowing the room to feel calm, cohesive, and uninterrupted. By evening, the doors open to reveal an entirely different atmosphere centered around gathering, hospitality, and ritual.⁠

We often think about how spaces can transition throughout the day and support different moments of living without competing for attention when not in use.⁠

Over time, this breakfast nook became layered with the client’s collection of houseplants, bringing even more warmth and life into the space. Paired with the texture of the woven rattan dining chairs, the room feels relaxed, lived-in, and naturally connected to its surroundings.⁠

A reminder that thoughtfully designed homes are not meant to feel static, but to evolve naturally alongside the people living in them.⁠

In this project, Ann approached the room as a series of relationships rather than individual selections, layering blue tones, introducing variation through pattern, and grounding the space with structure and symmetry.⁠
⁠
It’s this level of consideration that allows a space to feel cohesive without feeling predictable.⁠
