Sweet Dreams and Positive Energy
*PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT NATIVE AMERICAN AND DON’T CLAIM TO BE* Negative energy takes the space of what is possible within you. Traditionally, Native Americans made dreamcatchers for children to protect them from nightmares and negative energy by weaving a web to catch the bad, and adorning them with feathers to let the positive energy and dreams flow down to the sleeping child.
I taught myself how to make dreamcatchers over 20 years ago, and thoroughly enjoy the process, as it’s meditative, intricate, and a creative outlet. I’m also a giver, and when I make something, it’s typically a gift for someone special. My interest in making arts and crafts has followed me since I was a child, and I like to explore all media.
When I got back into making dreamcatchers, I found that I wanted to make them for people. They’re mesmerizing and enigmatic to me. Each one is different and carries energy I imbued into it. Working with someone on a custom piece made sense to me, as I could give to someone in need, while fulfilling my passion for creating something unique and special.
