The Foundation of Good Design! 📕💚✨
Found this gem at Half Price Books and was instantly taken back to my time studying Interior Architecture at Ohio University. My original copy still lives on the bookshelf in my office, 20+ years later, at my very own design firm.
It’s a good reminder that beautiful design starts long before the finishing touches. The basics matter — learning scale, proportion, function, construction, and how spaces truly work is what creates the foundation for thoughtful, successful design. After another late night working on client projects, much like my college days, I’m reminded that hard work really does pay off!
Pro tip: Half Price Books is such a great spot for finding coffee table books and bookshelf styling pieces related to your favorite interests. Design, fashion, travel, art, cooking — they always have the best hidden gems. Beautiful homes are not simply styled; they’re layered with pieces that feel meaningful and intentional.
Sometimes the best things on your shelves are the ones that tell your story. 💚🖤🤍
