The phrase "hold fast" is used in the sailing world and refers to keeping a firm grip on the lines when the ship is passing through rough weather in order to avoid being thrown overboard. The phrase can be adapted into day to day life as a reminder to hold on and persevere through tough times. I've always found comfort during life's trials by being near water and I was fortunate to grow up very close to the shore of Lake Erie. It may not have been the ocean, but the sound of crashing waves and the hunt for beach treasures washed ashore were therapeutic all the same. After the untimely death of my fiance, I returned to my childhood home to begin rebuilding my life and I ended up spending countless hours down at the beach hunting for beach glass. It became a form of therapy and a much needed distraction from my grief. 3 years later I'm opening up this shop to share some of the beauty I found as I held fast through my roughest proverbial waters.

I recently felt called to get back to "creating beauty from brokenness." Quite literally. A dear friend of mine coined the phrase to me back in 2017 when I first started my little side hustle. She never intended for it to be my catchphrase for my work, but it was just perfect given what I had gone through. Sadly I lost Roberta nearly a year ago, but her impact on my life remains.

Fast forward to my sister giving me a book she had just finished reading when we got to meet up in Hawaii last month, "The Well Watered Woman" by Gretchen Saffles. I couldn't believe it when I read those same exact words. It felt impossible to ignore. I've been working on reorganizing my art space to get ready to create again.

While walking on the beach yesterday with my son I decided I want to use some of the hearts I've found on the beach pairing with some scripture regarding God's love for us. Stay tuned!

12 years ago I lost my fiance, Bill. I felt okay today, but still wanted to take a beach walk just for some alone time. I came home with my best tooth, to date. Felt like a gift from above. Thank you, Billiam. 💙⚓😘

The highlight of yesterday was finding this most polite and not pinchy calico crab! I've seen many of their shells on the shoreline but I've never seen one in the wild before. This was such a happy moment!
