It is with a heavy heart inform you of the passing of an outstanding woman and a valuable part of the Quilting Page “Village.”
Deborah “Dee” Harrington Legvold of Apple Valley passed away Dec. 1, 2024, at the age of 73. Preceded in death by parents, a sister, and a brother. She is survived by a spouse of 51 years, Steve, brother, Robert Scott Harrington with spouse Jody, and sons, Eric and Brian Legvold. Dee was a Peace Corps Volunteer. Which is how she met Steve.
She employed her dietary B.S. degree and Master of Public Health in hospital and nursing home food service management and education. She did consulting work in many health facilities around the country. Dee took pride in mentoring colleagues, encouraging them to embrace challenges and strive for personal and professional growth.
Prior to and since her 2016 retirement she dedicated her energy to the art of quilting. She has been part of several award-winning quilts.
Dee developed friendships through quilting. She felt strongly that we should give back to our community by providing a way for quilting to bring people together and empower the energy quilts give. Not only to the recipients but the makers of the quilts. Working with other quilters to create quilts for donation to charities has been Dee’s passion for the past several years.
We at the Quilting Page will continue to promote the work that was so important to her by making and donating quilts to those who need them.
Per Dee’s wishes there will be no formal memorial services. We will be having a Celebration of life party in June in Dee's backyard.
In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to The Quilting Page to help purchase supplies to produce quilts donated to local youth aging out of foster care, to individuals experiencing homelessness and to children by way of "Sleep In Heavenly Peace". All of Dee's sewing items including the "fabric store" in the basement will be used in the construction of donation quilts.
I will miss her.
