I’m not even kidding… 🤷‍♀️

“If I ever go missing, don’t bother with hospitals or jails. Check all the thrift stores first.”

A beautiful day for exploring!
What are you in the market for? Let me tell you a true story of why vintage shopping is the best.

I’m renovating my upstairs landing. I have a vision in mind. And that’s always what gets me in trouble. I’m not going to sway from my vision, but it’s finding everything that goes along with it.
So here’s my dilemma… I have a window that is very small and close to the ground with a slant ceiling in my old farmhouse.
I know that I want a table under that window for plants and beautiful items. But all of the consoles sold nowadays are very high. Or too high for that space. They are generally 30”. I need something between 18” and 23”. No longer than 23 “.
And a coffee table isn’t the vibe.
An old wood, rattan, or wicker is what I’m looking for. I have spent hours and days searching online. Do you think I can find anything new? Not the size I’m looking for.
So yesterday, after I added new items to my booth at The Market Place East Durham, I perused every single booth with my tape measure and discovered at least three little tables that fit the bill. So once I’m finished and ready to add furniture, I will make a decision. That will be the last piece I add so I want to make sure that I’m not overdoing with that piece.
The interesting part is seeing the outrageous prices for new pressed board and comparing to real wood with beautiful detailing.
It tells me all I need to know about why thrifting is the trendiest new pastime.

Coming to Papa Al’s Attic in The Market Place East Durham on Friday~
I’m told it was used as a small ice bucket in the 1950’s.
It’s from the American Brilliance period of cut glass (early 1900’s) but has a beautiful pinging ring, leading me to believe it’s a nice lead crystal. There’s no identifying marking.

The official use might have been as a celery holder as it’s smaller than a traditional ice bucket but I envision it as a vase for floating peonies.

Whatever your imagination tells you its purpose is, it’s a gorgeous piece.
At its highest point at the handles it’s only 6”, 4.5” on the sides.

What do YOU think it could be used for?
