Every powder room should have personality. Silk wallcovering does the trick here...keeping the floor in a neutral terrazzo makes for a quiet accompaniment.

For my new workspace in South Carolina, I was feeling the need for a bit of the tropics. And I was not going to deny myself my forever wish for a blush colored leather desk either.

One must work in style!!

Natural stone and light oak cabinetry make for a classic mountain pairing. The hand-stacked stone provides a stunning backdrop to the sleek stainless steel and clean marble countertops. It is a space that feels grounded and durable, with black-framed windows adding a sharp modern edge to the traditional materials. Altogether, it creates a kitchen that feels warm, intentional, and enduring proof that classic materials never go out of style.

Why do I love putting ski chairs inside? I'm not sure...maybe it's because I would be inclined to "use" them more if they were in warmer locations! All joking aside, I love that we were able to do this one in a color of our choice and make it moderately comfortable for use while changing one's footwear. Happy upcoming weekend - may we all get outside for some fresh air!

When I think of the core design principles at play in this grand fireplace, several come to mind: balance, texture, scale, and contrast, to name just a few. Our mix of various stone and wood textures creates a sense of rugged luxury. Its purpose as a cozy yet strong room divider was effective in subdividing the space while still offering beautiful mountain views.

Prepping for a photo shoot at a project this week and decided to do my own flower arrangements. It’s been so fun to grab a ton of blooms and just admire their beauty... especially in the midst of a rather drab week here in the Colorado Rockies!

Rugged and refined materials meet to make this kitchen both industrial and warm at the same time. The vantage point into the Butler's Pantry, with its classic cream cabinets, is a great study in contrast as well. This was truly a workhorse beauty of a kitchen — as pretty today as when we did it more than a decade ago. Who knew?

When in doubt about how to add some life to a room with a quiet color atmosphere, just pop it with fun bedding. It’s easy to swap later, if and when one’s taste for patterns changes. Ditto on a few colorful lamps and some classically elegant drapery for softness. Now, I’m on the hunt for another pattern on the walls! Complimentary...of course.

If I had to name this kitchen, it would be something relating to “Moody Blues”. We didn’t have the luxury of starting from scratch on this one, so we had to be judicious about color selection for the redo, hardware selection, accessories, and, of course, had to add some luxury via the bespoke backsplash tile. All the elements combined to form a simple, cohesive, and slightly moody space with a good amount of character. May we all embrace peaceful experiences in our kitchen as the holidays approach us!
