As you may know by now, our beloved soap shop is transitioning to new ownership and relocating to a new location. While today marks the last day at our current location in Great Bend, KS, we are excited for the future at our new location at the old Kimble Furniture location, 113 N. Main St, in Ellinwood, KS.

The baton is being passed to the wonderful family-owned business, Last Stop Acres, known for their farm-to-shower goat milk soaps. Founded by Kelli, Mark, and their three boys in 2021, Last Stop Acres is based in Rice County, Kansas. They are a blended family that has a passion for goats and soap making. Linda Penner, Kelli's mother who recently retired from the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, manages the soap production while the rest of the family takes care of the goats.

Their goat milk soap, which began production in March 2022, is handcrafted in small batches, with each bar being a delightful surprise in color and fragrance. They are dedicated to offering the same natural, preservative-free products that are beneficial for your skin that you have come to expect and appreciate from Artisan Soaps.

As we transition, please note that the soap shop will be pausing operations in the first week of January to allow the new owners to settle in and get things set up. The new brand will honor the legacy of The Artisan Soap Shop while incorporating the unique touches of Last Stop Acres.

From Linda: "We are very excited for the next step in our small business endeavors at Last Stop Acres. We’ve known Rebecca for a good many years; even before she got her soap business up and running. She has always put her customers first and produced a quality product. We are honored that she thought of us.

We are still in a transition process of bringing on Rebecca’s inventory, expand our inventory and establishing a storefront. We hope you are patient with this process, but we are very excited for the future and getting the opportunity to meet Rebecca’s customers. We’ll be making contact through social media and word of mouth in the coming weeks. Replacing Rebecca and Mary Jane's presence in the soap making business will not be an easy task; but we are looking forward to the challenge."

Thank you for your years of loyalty and support. Here's to a new chapter!"

With warm regards,
Linda, Kelli, Mark, Rebecca and MaryJane

A couple of announcements:

(1) Remember that the soap shop will be closed next weekend, Saturday, December 2nd, and will reopen on December 9th for just four more Saturdays at our current location. We do still have plenty of delicious-smelling gifts for your Christmas shopping list!

(2) I'm so pleased to announce that before Thanksgiving, a verbal agreement was reached to sell the soap shop to local soapmaking family who raises goats, who wants to continue making your favorite soaps, expand the current selection of goat milk soaps, and who will offer the same attention to quality. We still have details such as the new location to work out. I will work with them through the transition, and throughout the next year to help them get up to speed. We will do all that we can to make the transition as smooth as possible for YOU, but I know they welcome your patience with them as well. Again, I'm really pleased about this because I feel that this helps us take care of all of you who have taken care of us through your faithful patronage over the past decade. Please keep an eye on this page for further details in the coming weeks.

Memories: Several years ago, I received a notification that a box of supplies had been damaged and I needed to stop by UPS station to pick it up. As the story unfolded, the friendly good-natured driver could tell from the outside of the box on his truck that something was leaking. He set it aside and went on with the rest of the route. But the broken bottle inside was a sizable bottle of Peppermint Essential Oil and before long the entire UPS truck smelled like peppermint; it was strong enough and potent enough that the poor driver, with tears running down his face, was soon forced to interrupt his route to take my box back to the UPS station early. But the story doesn’t end there. When I arrived to pick up the damaged box which had been unpacked and repacked to remove the broken mess, the incident had become the talk of the entire station which by that point, ALSO smelled like peppermint oil. Thanks to the good-natured UPS driver, we all had a good laugh about it, and it helped me get to know some of the UPS workers better than I would have otherwise in a memorable and lighthearted manner. What about you? As we wind things down this fall, do you have any favorite memories involving our soap or your trips to our soap shop? Share them below….we’d love to hear them!

As we enter the fall season and the final stretch before the end of the year, I have some important news to share with you about my side-business, Artisan Soaps. After ten incredible years of making handcrafted soap, I have made the decision to close our doors at the end of this year.

This decision was not taken lightly, and it is driven by a shift in our interests and a desire to explore new opportunities for both myself and my faithful helper, MaryJane. I am incredibly grateful for the support and loyalty you have shown us throughout the years. Our customers have been one of the highlights of running this business, and we cannot express enough gratitude for your continued patronage.

I understand that this news may come as a surprise and disappointment, especially for those who have come to rely on our soap. However, I want to assure you that I am working on finding alternative options for your soap needs going forward. I will be announcing those options in the near future—stay tuned for updates.

In the meantime, our current product supply is still available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis. I encourage you to browse the website, www.artisansoaps.com, and place your orders before supplies run out. As December approaches, any remaining products will be reduced in price as we aim to clear our inventory.

Lastly, I want to inform you that our final day for sales will be December 31st. Please mark this date in your calendars to ensure you have ample time to place your last orders.

Once again, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support over the past decade. It has been a joy and privilege to serve you with our handcrafted soaps and gifts, and we appreciate your understanding as we embark on this new chapter in our lives.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out here or through the website or email.

Warm regards,
Rebecca

📣 Just a reminder that the physical shop will be closed next Saturday (8/19), but you can still order online for free local delivery, or pickup at your convenience. Yesterday, we restocked four essential oil soaps: Peppermint, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Patchouli. Our Essential Oil soaps are now made with botanicals instead of color, so they may look a little different than you are used to; I'll get pictures updated shortly. The Patchouli Essential Oil soap is a new offering. Enjoy! 🧼
