1892 Supporters - - please read ❣️
I want to extend my deepest thanks to everyone who stopped in during Small Business Saturday to show your love and support for 1892. And to all of you who have made it a point to visit—whether once, often, or over the course of the last ten years—thank you. Your presence has meant more than you know.
It is with a heavy heart, but also a sense of peace, that we will be closing our doors at the end of this Christmas season.
When I began 1892, I wasn’t yet married and I didn’t have children. Time felt endless, and I poured myself into creating my own crafts, decorating every corner, and rearranging rooms until they felt just right. As the years went on, life changed—as it tends to—and I found myself exchanging my own crafts for the privilege of showcasing the work of other local makers. I traded hours of hands-on creativity for the joy of supporting others’ creativity.
That’s the nature of time: we give up some things to make space for others, often without even realizing it.
What hasn’t changed is what 1892 has given me—countless relationships, meaningful connections, and people walking through our doors from near and far. This little shop has been a part of my story in ways I could never fully describe.
This decision has not been easy. It still feels surreal to step back and acknowledge the years of effort, love, and heart that have gone into building this small business. But a wise woman once told me, “Best with some is better than good with all.” And she was right.
So until our paths cross again, and until the next adventure finds us, we wish you a beautiful holiday season. We hope to see your faces one last time at 1892 before we close this cherished chapter.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart
