Alabama Ant Art Alabama Ant Art began as an experimental hobby in 2015 and has grown to an Etsy store with more than 120 online sales to include 10 international sales.

Alabama Ant Art is truly unique natural art from the ground up. No cast is ever alike. Alabama is full of two key ingredients for making cast fire and sculptures: Empty aluminum beer and soda cans and fire ants. Supply will never exceed demand!

Gateway was cast using molten aluminum on Nov. 15, 2025, from a colony of red invasive fire ants and finished Dec. 8, 2025. The name is inspired by an oval opening in the cast, which I see as a gateway. Here are a few line from poet Herbert Shipman:
Across the gateway of my heart
I wrote “No thoroughfare
But love came passing by
And cried “I enter everywhere

Precipice was cast using molten aluminum on Nov. 15, 2025, from a colony of red invasive fire ants and finished Dec. 9, 2025. A precipice is a very steep rock face or cliff, especially a tall one. John Cleese, English actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer, and presenter, and perhaps best known as a member of the comedy troupe Monty Python, wrote, “It’s only on the brink that people find the will to change. Only at the precipice do we evolve.” Precipice’s wood base measures 4” x 4”. The cast is approximately 8” wide. The cast and base weigh 5.22 pounds and stand 11.5” tall.

O’ Tannenbaum was cast using molten aluminum on Nov. 15, 2025, from a colony of red invasive fire ants and finished Dec. 3, 2025. "Tannenbaum" in the German language, literally means "fir tree" but is commonly used to refer to a Christmas tree, and "O Tannenbaum," in English, translates to "O Christmas Tree". The term is famously associated with the German Christmas carol. Here are the carol’s lyrics, in English, to help elevate the holiday spirit:

A butte is an isolated hill or solitary rock formation with steep sides and a flat top. Today, Butte represents a life that has endured hardship, and now stands firm against the elements and time.
