Almost every week, someone asks me, “How do you do it? How do you work all those hours in the ER and still find the time and energy for La’ Famille?”
The answer is simpler than I used to think. I keep trusting God. And somewhere along the way, this little business became about so much more than tallow.
My faith is growing deeper every day. I keep showing up for Him, and He keeps showing up for me in ways I never could have imagined.
There was a time when I prayed for the smallest sign from God. Just something to reassure me that He heard me. That I was going in the right direction. That He was there.
Now, the signs feel like they’re flashing in neon.
I used to hope for whispers from Him, but I never really stopped long enough to listen. My mind was too full of my own noise: doubt, fear, mistrust, questioning whether I was worthy, whether I was capable, whether I was hearing Him at all.
Slowly, I started quieting that noise. And I discovered something that changed me. He had been there all along. I was just never still enough to hear Him. Now I hear Him. Not in whispers. At full volume.
Through doors I could never have opened myself. Through people He has placed in my path at exactly the right moment. Through opportunities I never went looking for. Through conversations that could only have happened by His timing. Through La’ Famille, over and over again.
I know how incredibly blessed I am. I don’t believe I’ve earned or deserved any of it. And “grateful” doesn’t even begin to describe what is in my heart.
So I’ll keep working the long hours. I’ll keep showing up for people in the ER. I’ll keep whipping tallow, filling jars, packing boxes, answering messages, dreaming bigger than I probably should, and wondering where in the world I’m going to find enough hours in the day. But most importantly, I’ll keep showing up for Him.
Because the more I surrender my plans to His, the more I realize that La’ Famille was never just something I was building.
God was using it to build something in me. And for that, I will be grateful for the rest of my life. 🤍
To God be the glory. Always.
