Good Afternoon! 🌞

I’m trying to get back into posting, and I really meant to do it yesterday, after the Palm Sunday service, but instead I was working. Later, I ran across a post in my neighborhood app which I commented on, and thought I’d share here, because I have dealt so much with downsizing homes when I was still physically staging homes.

Someone wrote a brilliant little piece about starting and restarting a craft project she had stashed away for several years. She asked others for their thoughts, because she was feeling badly about it.

Hopefully this might encourage someone:

“Beautiful—along with the message. 💜 What’s important is that you realized it was still important to you, and that you started it! 💜Often times we need to evaluate if it’s still relevant or important for that time in our life. If it’s not, let it go. Otherwise it keeps us stuck—both mentally, emotionally, and physically. For example piles of projects, papers, cars, and the list goes on. 🙂
I have found for myself and clients I’ve helped downsize their homes in the past, is to just “pick away” at it. Develop good or better habits. Just do 5, 10, 15 minutes a day or twice a day…but do it EVERY day. Eventually the brain gets rewired (neuroplacticity) , and then other tasks get easier too. Seriously. It’s like having a CBT session for free. 😉 (cognitive behavioral therapy)…or for me personally, I have to keep my sewing room under control. lol.
I make memory quilts, etc. so fabric and yarn accumulate. I literally just take one day every two weeks, and put it in my calendar as a “organize day.” Then I just put music on, make a cup of tea, ignore my diet and have one cookie or other treat, turn off my phone (the big one) , and just tidy up the place. I treat it like going to regular work, so it has to happen…
I usually “get into the zone,” as I refer to it…and it never fails to surprise me that I get it done in way less time than I expected! lol. Anyhoo, super happy that you got started, and let us know how your project progresses! 🙂 “

Hi. 🙂

I make customized Memory Quilts, Shawls, and other Handcrafted Items, since 2006. Please see me over at Anna and Her Sewing Machine.

I’m also a Grief & Transition Coach, and future Art Therapist.

I used to do hands-on interior design and staging. I still do Consultations: interior re-design, staging, paint colors, furnishings, carpet, etc.

Some of the techniques I use in group and individual sessions are: Paint From Your Soul, Heartwork Journaling, Soul Collage, Color Energy Meditation, and Dream Tending, etc.

I will be adding Retreats at a future time.

Please see my website for more details and information.

Thank you kindly,

Anna

It's been awhile since my last post, but hip surgery and a busy schedule working on my memory quilts along with a wooden boat renovation, has filled the days. But, I wanted to wish Floridians and others in regions affected by the hurricanes, the best. We are grateful for family and friends in the area who have made it through. I can only wish it was better for so many others. You are in our thoughts and prayers. 🙏💜🙏

I hope everyone in the States had a restful Memorial Day Weekend. We spent it at the cabin. 🌲🌲🌲

I just posted my latest little quilting and sewing projects over at my craft page, Anna and Her Sewing Machine, and see that the last decorating project over here...didn't post! Oh well. I'll see if I can re-do it all. Sigh. As I mentioned back at Christmas, I need to hire a teenager to keep me in my own loop! Lol. 😉

All the Memory Quilt orders have taken on its own life, along with property management; but I was able to do my last decorating/design project with the help of my wonderful friend and staging helper, Linda. We were able to surprise a widowed mother of three, with redoing her first condo. It took a few months, and if it wasn't for a fabulous handy person on Task Rabbit, a huge discount from a window cleaner...another handyman the realtor uses...lots of donations...and You Tube for helping me to do my own crown moulding and tile, we might not have succeeded.

We were definitely blessed, and in turn, we were able to bless someone else! 🙏💜

I really need to hire a teenager to help me keep up with posting to different locations! 😁 ...

Life has been busy over at my ministry/side gig (Anna and Her Sewing Machine) this year. I'm certainly not complaining, as it's another side of my creativity that allows me to work from home. It also allows me to use my grief coaching and counseling skills, on a very practical level. 😊

My biggest Colour Coach project is still in process, as my friend Linda and I had to play contractors along with being decorators. I'll post more about this, once I can get photos sorted...and when I can finish wallpapering the last wall...and learn how to use the wet saw for the final pieces of the fireplace!

In the meantime, I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas/other holidays celebrated! 🎄💚🎄

Pine cone or pinecone? Happy Saturday possums! Maybe it's the super sturdy / solid-wood-like pinecones in my area, but I've been trying to cut them and remove the scales and it's nearly impossible! I want to make a version of this colorful pinecone flower wreath eventually! Like?

Sometimes it’s difficult to feel inspired, let alone feel inspired enough to create something. This is a gentle reminder that despite every challenge, you are imaginative, you are playful, you are joyous, you are inspired (and inspiring!). You are amazingly talented, and you create works that are beautiful beyond wonder. No matter what comes at you today, remember that nothing, and no one, can truly hold you back. We are wishing each of you a lovely day full of imagination, dreaming, and love. YOU GOT THIS! 💖
