Sometimes the quilts I get to work on are extra special.

This vintage double wedding ring is one of those. The seams aren’t perfect. It’s a little wonky and bubbly in places. But my goodness, the fabrics are beautiful and varied. Full of color and character. Just like the family it belongs to.
I can’t wait to see this one finished and returned home where it will become something tangible to remember those who came before and the legacy they left behind.

Do I have a favorite quilt, you ask?

An impossible question to answer.

That being said, these four are current favorites from my own quilt stockpile. (I reserve the right to change my mind from time to time.)
I choose these ones today, not because they’re flawless, but because they feel like me. The fabrics, the colors, the patterns.

Could you single out a favorite quilt from your quilt collection?

Impossible, I say, impossible! (Unless, of course, you only have one. And in that case, you need to start quilting!)

Modern and geometric pantographs are some of my favorites to see stitched out on a quilt. Why? They add interest, enhance negative space, and work beautifully across so many quilt styles.

I’m drawn to clean lines, quiet repetition, and designs that are more modern and at the same time, timeless.

Do you gravitate toward clean lines or flowing curves when it comes to quilting designs?

These modern, geometric pantographs are some of my personal favorites. They add structure, texture, and just the right amount of visual appeal.

This machine is more than a piece of equipment to me. I call her Lady. Every morning I walk into the studio and say, “Good morning Lady. I’m so glad you’re here with me.” I feel like all my dreams have come true every time I get to run her.

She is a really cool tool that helps me slow down and focus on helping everyday makers finish quilts. She stitches so beautifully and I really couldn’t love her more.

Lady is a Bernina Q24 equipped with Q-Matic software and she sits on a 13’ foot Pro Frame.

I get asked about my business name from time to time, so I thought I’d share.

The fox has always symbolized cleverness, adaptability, and a bit of confidence. Honestly, that feels a lot like quilting to me.

Ladyfox Stitches reflects how I approach quilting. I try to be thoughtful, creative, and I like to pay attention to details. Longarm quilting is a mix of planning, problem-solving, and using your instincts as you go.

And for reals, a fox with pearls and a bow that is also a sewing machine? How cute is that? Is it weird that I love my logo so much?

I never take it lightly when someone sends me their quilt. It’s always an honor to be part of helping it get finished and ready to be loved.

Hi, I’m Kara and am the face behind Ladyfox Stitches.

Quilting is how I slow down, create something meaningful, and relieve stress. My brain can’t worry about everything there is to worry about when I’m doing quilt math.

When I’m not quilting, I’m spending time with my family and loving on my seven grandchildren. They are my greatest joy.

I consider myself a lifelong learner and genuinely love learning new things. I’ve always loved well-written books, though these days I mostly listen to them. Sitting down to read feels like a luxury I don’t often make time for anymore.

I’ve also stretched myself by learning how to run a YouTube channel. Using a camera and editing videos has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone (and wow… it can be a lot!).

I don’t watch many movies. I’d almost always choose a documentary about art or history instead.

I’m religious and find a lot of peace and purpose in worshiping God with my church family.

Thanks for being here and sharing this little space of the world with me.
