A little Danish design history just landed at Frost Antiques . 🇩🇰

This dining set is a good example of why we love mid-century furniture.

These six Model 7171 dining chairs were designed by Johannes Andersen and made by Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark. The chairs have beautifully curved backs, warm figured wood, and creamy upholstery — comfortable, sculptural and understated.

The table is equally handsome, with a metal inlay, gorgeous grain, and an additional leaf for when the dinner party grows.

Johannes Andersen was affectionately referred to as the “King of Danish Tables.” He played a massive role in shaping the global boom of Scandinavian design. He was known for bringing organic curves and graceful, functional forms to Danish modernism. His work with Uldum is sought after today, with collectors appreciating the combination of beautiful woods, thoughtful construction and those unmistakably fluid Scandinavian lines.

Six chairs. An expandable table. Beautiful craftsmanship. And a whole lot of style.

A little late-summer soundtrack here in Maine, as blueberry season winds down.

That old familiar sound takes us right back to Blueberries for Sal—wild blueberry fields, August sunshine, and berries rattling into the rake.

Growing up, pancakes were easy. A little batter on the griddle, a flip, and breakfast was ready.

But waffles? Waffles felt special.

Maybe it was the extra time it took, or the way they came out of that iron with all those little squares just waiting to be filled. Every pocket caught a little pool of melted butter and warm maple syrup that made them feel a little more luxurious.

Well-loved antiques carry more than age—they carry the quiet echoes of everyday life. Imagine this waffle iron warming over a wood stove, turning golden waffles on a crisp morning while family gathered around the kitchen table.

This American No. 8 Pattern 151 waffle iron was made by the Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, Pennsylvania, one of America’s most respected cast iron manufacturers. Founded in 1865, Griswold became known for producing exceptional cookware built to last for generations.

Designed for use on wood, coal, and later gas stoves, the American No. 8 sits in a base that allowed it to be flipped so waffles cooked evenly on both sides. It was a simple yet ingenious design that helped make these waffle irons a favorite in American kitchens for generations.

Here’s a sample of our vintage 14k gold necklaces, each with its own personality.

One of our favorite parts of what we do is seeing where old treasures end up.
These antique cast iron sink brackets were tucked away in a local barn before finding a new purpose. A customer paired them with a simple wooden planter box, and now they’re holding a cascade of summer flowers instead of a farmhouse sink.

We believe the best antiques aren’t always the ones displayed on a shelf. Sometimes they’re the ones that become part of your everyday life again. Every old piece has a story. Sometimes, it just needs someone with a little imagination to help write the next chapter.

We get a surprising number of inquiries about antique floor grates and registers, and it had me thinking about something we were talking about today.

My son and I were driving around looking at some of the older homes in the area, admiring the ones that have been thoughtfully cared for over the years. We talked about how every older house needs updates. New insulation, better wiring, efficient heating—those improvements just make sense.

But it’s always nice to see when the finishing touches stay true to the home’s history.

Original woodwork. Old light fixtures. Door hardware. Floor grates.

The details that many people overlook are often the things that give a house its personality.

Maybe that’s part of why we get so many questions about old floor grates. They’re practical, of course, but they also reflect a time when even the functional pieces of a home were made with care and attention to detail.
