In honor of May marking Historic Preservation Month, we wanted to highlight the upcoming historic restoration at the Chase Building in Waterbury, Connecticut.

The Chase Building is part of the Waterbury Municipal Center Complex and was originally designed by architect Cass Gilbert, who is known for designing the US Supreme Court Building in Washington DC and the Woolworth Building in NYC. Constructed between 1917 and 1919, this building is listed on both the Connecticut State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. Originally used by the Chase Brass and Copper Company as a corporate headquarters, it now serves the City of Waterbury as office space for local government officials.

This project is guided by a commitment to meeting modern requirements without compromising the unique historic character of this beautiful building. The Friar team is proud to serve as the architect on this important restoration, and we look forward to sharing updates as construction begins this summer!
