Sometimes a Client walks in already certain: "I know exactly what I want, just come measure and make it." That's exactly how this one started.

Her Piano Room had these lovely eyebrow windows — a soft arch across the top, more like an eyebrow than a half circle — with almost no room above them. Her plan was Hard Cornices to cover them completely. I told her that would absolutely work, but asked if she wanted to hear another idea first. She wasn't sure decorating was her strong suit, so she said yes.

I suggested Panels instead, so those pretty eyebrow windows could actually be seen. She loved the idea, but worried about the moulding showing above the Decorative Rod since there was barely any space up there. So I ordered special brackets from my iron company that lifted the rod higher, and that problem disappeared.

The room needed to stay formal, so we went with a solid Drapery fabric, pulling gold and gray straight from a painting she loved. Gold won out, to brighten the whole room. We hung the Panels out past the window edges so we weren't blocking the glass, then added crystal buttons under the Goblet pleats and crystal finials for a little sparkle.

She came in with a plan. She left with something even better. That's a room with a little glam now — and she loved every bit of it.

Every guest bathroom deserves better than the eighties.

This one had been hunter green and gold for longer than anyone wanted to admit. Dated. A little dark. Ready for an update. My Client wanted to bring it into today, so we started with a tan textured wallpaper that reads almost like linen — warm, textural, and a completely different feeling the second you walk in.

Then we brought in the fun. A Bird Valance in a coral buffalo plaid, hung up high to hold onto every bit of light that small window gets. We did the Shower Curtain in that same buffalo plaid, so the whole room works together instead of fighting itself.

You know that feeling when a space goes from "fine" to "fun"? That's this bathroom now. Coral is such a fun color. Buffalo plaid keeps it from taking itself too seriously. And there's still plenty of light coming in.

That's not just a fresh coat of paint. That's not just new fabric. That's a guest bathroom people actually want to walk into.

Do we just do Drapery? Oh, we do so much more than that! Panels, Valances, Roman Shades, Blinds, Shutters, Motorized everything, Bench Cushions, Bedding, Outdoor spaces too. A kitchen banquette is one of those spaces everyone loves the idea of — until the sun's blasting in and the bench is hard as a rock.

That's exactly where this Client was. She had the banquette seating already, she just wasn't sure what to do with it. So we started with the obvious: Cushions. Nobody wants to eat breakfast on a hard bench.

Then we solved the sun issue. A light filtering Roller Shade keeps the glare down without losing the light. And to dress it all up, we brought in our Charlotte Valances in a beautiful floral with an aqua accent, with the bench Cushions done in a coordinating upholstery fabric to tie the whole thing together.

Now that banquette isn't just seating. It's where everyone actually wants to sit.

Sometimes a project comes from somewhere you don't expect — like a phone call about a cabin two hours away.

I'd been working with this Client for about a year on her house here in town — Window Treatments, Bedding, the works. As we wrapped one of those projects, she asked if I'd help with her cabin at Lake Burton too. That's well outside our usual area, but I couldn't say no.

The cabin's small, about 800 square feet, and just about the cutest thing. She didn't need much privacy, just wanted to be able to close things up when she wasn't there, so Woven Wood Shades became our privacy layer underneath.

For the Living Room, we had vaulted ceilings and a window worth showing off, so we hung Drapery high and wide to use every bit of that height. She wanted a Ralph Lauren kind of look — white walls, wood tones, a deep rich green — and we found a watercolor fabric that had all of it in one print, banded in that same green to bring it out even more. A walnut Decorative Traverse Rod finished it off, easy to open and close whenever she's up there.

Then came the Pillows. We pulled from the Drapery fabric for the base, added a houndstooth in browns and tans for the side chairs, and finished with a monogrammed Pillow for the sofa — houndstooth again, monogram in that same deep green.

She called it the biggest transformation she'd ever seen. It went from blah to beautiful and completely beyond what she expected. That cabin feels like a whole different place now.
