A kitchen that invites you to stay awhile.

Generous seating, warm wood and natural light make the island the center of this Fenwick Island home. A place for morning coffee, a full house and conversations that carry into dinner.

Interior design and furnishings by C&E Furniture + Design, serving the Delaware and Maryland coast.

The most considered homes begin long before the furniture arrives.

For our new build and renovation projects, we’re involved in the details early, studying how materials meet, refining millwork and lighting, considering proportion and sightlines, and making decisions that will carry quietly from one room to the next.

It’s a layered process, with each decision informing the next. The goal is a home that feels cohesive and intentional, without ever feeling overly designed.

I’ve never wanted our work to feel overly designed.

The homes I’m most drawn to have a sense of ease to them—beautiful materials, pieces that feel collected rather than placed, and rooms that are just as comfortable to live in as they are beautiful to look at.

That balance is at the heart of what we create at C&E.

August, in motion. A little behind the scenes, a lot happening in the studio, and a few moments of life in between.

We’re deep in the rhythm of summer...designing, sourcing, installing, and making time to enjoy the season while it’s here.

What Pinterest doesn’t show you...

It’s easy to fall in love with the finished photos (we do too). But before the styling, before the furniture, and long before the reveal, there’s a whole lot happening behind the scenes.

Site visits. Construction meetings. Material approvals. Problem-solving. A few unexpected surprises. And about a thousand decisions that all add up to a home that feels effortless in the end.

The finished spaces are beautiful, but the process is where the magic really happens.

Which behind-the-scenes moment surprised you the most?

If it feels effortless, it was probably obsessed over. Last week we made a pit stop at our Bristol Rd. Project in South Bethany and have more beautiful shots to share. We’re at the stage of Bristol Rd where the details start to speak for themselves. Every finish was chosen to create a sense of ‘refined coastal ease’ from the ground up.
