I LOVE install days!!! This corner layout has been dubbed by my installers and clients as the “Linda corner”. It is one of my favorite ways to address that awkward dead space in the corner of the counter next to tall cabinets. This space can make or break a good kitchen design. The “cabinet” to the left in this case is a hidden walk-in pantry made to look the same as the rest of the cabinets. I have also used this with a bank of tall pantry cabinets or a refrigerator panel. It tucks into that space perfectly and utilizes that little corner nook on top of the counter. We add plugs and a roll out tray to store small appliances behind the little door and VOILA! You have a “Linda corner”. My client even had it listed on her blueprints which made my day!

Sometimes interior design is glamorous, meetings with clients, creating drool worthy spaces, and shopping for that perfect piece to create that *chef’s kiss* moment. …

Sometimes design is strategically and delicately packing your entire huge SUV to the brim with the final pieces for your clients home in the middle of the night after a hurricane passes. I can’t wait to get this final delivery over to the pool house and see that final reveal soon. We are SOOO close to the finish line. Phase 2… we get to pick furniture and accessories to really complete the space in time for holiday guests.

Selecting fabrics can get pretty overwhelming. When you get to this part of the project you have already had to pick all the cabinet finishes, layout decisions, hardware selections, tile, countertops, backsplash, etc. As a designer, getting to the part of the renovations where I get to help clients pick all the pretty parts brings me SO much joy! This week we are deciding on the window bench cushion fabric. We have gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean, bold blue countertops and backsplash, neutral floors in a large format, and stunning patterns in the furniture and architectural details. Which fabric would you vote for if this were home?
