Today we are happy to feature: Jennifer Gunderson Naturavera
How did you get started making candles or bath/body products?
Naturavera started from a desire to bring the calm, clarity, and beauty of nature into everyday life. What began as experimenting with scents and wax at home quickly turned into something more meaningful—creating products that help people slow down and reconnect.
What inspired your business name?
“Naturavera” is rooted in nature and truth. It reflects a commitment to authentic, nature-inspired products that feel pure, intentional, and grounded.
Was this a hobby that turned into a business?
Yes—it absolutely started as a creative outlet. But over time, the passion for crafting high-quality, nature-inspired scents evolved into a full brand with purpose.
What’s your favorite product to make and why?
Wax melts are a favorite—they allow for strong scent throw and creative expression without the need for a flame. There’s something satisfying about crafting a scent experience that fills a space so effortlessly.
What type of wax / ingredients do you prefer?
Naturavera leans toward clean-burning 100% soy wax and uses high-quality, phthalate-free fragrance oils. The goal is always a safer, more enjoyable experience without unnecessary additives.
What’s one thing beginners don’t realize about candle making or bath products?
It’s more technical than it looks. Temperature control, cure time, fragrance load, and testing all play a huge role. A great product isn’t just made—it’s refined over time.
How do you choose your scents or formulations?
Every scent is designed to feel like an experience, not just a fragrance. Inspiration often comes from nature—rain, forest air, citrus groves—and is built layer by layer to tell a story.
Do you focus on “clean” or non-toxic ingredients? What does that mean to you?
Yes—“clean” at Naturavera means being intentional about what goes into each product. It’s about avoiding harsh or unnecessary ingredients and focusing on quality, safety, and transparency.
Why is ingredient quality important in your products?
Because these products live in people’s homes and daily routines. Quality ingredients ensure a better melt pool, better scent, and a better overall experience you can feel good about.
What’s one tip you’d give someone just starting out?
Be patient and test everything. Don’t rush to sell—take time to perfect your product.
Biggest mistake you made early on?
Trying to do too much too quickly. Growth comes from consistency and refining your craft, not rushing the process.
Favorite tool or supply you can’t live without?
A reliable thermometer—temperature control is everything in candle making.
What’s your best-selling scent or product?
Seasonal and experience-driven scents like Spa Day and Refined Renewal tend to stand out because they connect emotionally with customers.
What product are you most proud of?
The 6 Core Collections — Atrium, Conservatory, Garden, Pavilion, Spa and Terrace. Each one reflects growth, creativity, and a deeper connection to the Naturavera brand.
What do you love most about creating?
Turning a feeling into something tangible—something that can shift a mood, create comfort, or bring a moment of peace.
Where do you sell your products?
Naturavera products are sold at local markets, vendor events, and seasonal showcases—creating opportunities for people to experience the scents in person.
How do you connect with your customers?
Through in-person markets, storytelling on social media, and creating immersive scent experiences that people remember. Events like vendor markets are especially meaningful because they allow real connections.
