📜 MYSTIC TIDES CO. — THE DAILY FRONTIER DISPATCH 📜
October 10, 2026
Dearest townsfolk,
I write to thee this morning with a heart full of gratitude.
By what can only be described as a last-minute mercy, the storm shifted east, and our little corner of the coast was spared the worst of it.
After days of securing homesteads, raising shutters, gathering supplies, checking on neighbors, and preparing ourselves for what might come…
the great storm chose another path.
And for that, we are deeply thankful.
We did lose power for a little while, which briefly added a touch of authenticity to our 1800s lifestyle, but thankfully it was restored and our homestead remained safe. 😂
This morning, we ventured out to survey the kingdom.
The island has certainly seen some battle.
Trees are down.
Fences have fallen.
Yards are littered with branches and debris.
There are signs everywhere that the wind came through with something to prove.
But the roofs we saw appeared to be intact, and that alone is something worth being grateful for.
In our own community, there is cosmetic damage to some homes, but thankfully, nothing major.
Inland, things appear to have fared much better.
And after spending the last several days preparing for the possibility of something far worse, seeing mostly cleanup ahead of us feels like an enormous blessing.
So today, dear townsfolk, there shall be no dramatic complaints from the embroidery frontier.
No mourning over silent machines.
No tales of Wally World survival.
No threats made toward the bobbin.
Today, we are simply grateful.
Grateful for our home.
Grateful for our neighbors.
Grateful for the elders we were able to help prepare.
Grateful our power outage was brief.
Grateful that the damage around us appears manageable.
And especially grateful that we woke up this morning able to look around and say,
“We’re okay.”
But while we are relieved and thankful here, our thoughts and prayers are very much with those to our east who took the brunt of this storm.
What was a near miss for us became a very different experience for others.
We are praying for their safety, their homes, their communities, and for the long days of cleanup and recovery that may be ahead.
There will be branches to move.
Fences to mend.
Yards to clean.
Shutters to eventually take down.
And plenty of work ahead for many in our community.
But there is something comforting about knowing that today’s work is cleanup instead of recovery from catastrophe.
The great stitching contraption remains safe inside the homestead.
She has endured her forced vacation with all the grace of a machine that has absolutely no concept of hurricanes.
I suspect she expects business to resume immediately.
And honestly…
she may finally get her wish. 😂
So, dearest townsfolk, today’s dispatch is one of gratitude.
We were prepared.
We were fortunate.
And now we help one another clean up and move forward while keeping those hit much harder close in our hearts.
Yours in gratitude, relief, and slightly less hurricane anxiety,

P.S.
The embroidery machine has been informed that the danger has passed.
She appears ready to return to work.
Frankly, she has been judgmental enough this week.
Tomorrow, we stitch. 😂
