I know I don’t post a lot in here but that’s because I want to share tips and basic how to only.

So this video I wanted to share because I really struggle with this one.

This is an 18x18 transfer and it was super sticky. I even had a hard time getting it off the baker sheet!

This is how to fuzz a large transfer.

Remember that fuzzing gets lint onto your transfer so it’s less sticky. You want it less sticky so when your pulling the transfer off your surface it doesn’t stretch it.

The video cut off but essentially the transfer pulled some of my paint off because it was too sticky. If I had fuzzed more that would not have happened.

Fuzz, Fuzz, and Fuzz some more!

Don’t worry once you wash it, it will be sticky again. The more you use a transfer it will get less sticky… it’s the first time you use it, you just want to fuzz a lot!

How to stain the Chalk Couture wood cutouts and door tags.

Our wood cutouts come painted already if you don’t sand that paint off stain will not adhere or pe*****te the wood.

Step 1: Sand the wood with an electric sander and get most of the white paint off, you can use a hand sander too but it will take longer. Make sure you get the sides as well.

2: Supplies: puppy pad, wood risers, foam brush, gloves, rag, and any color stain

3: shake your stain or mix it, with the foam brush apply a layer of stain and wipe off with a rag

4: let dry

You’ll notice in the video where I didn’t get all the white paint off, if you don’t like that look sand it down more. I happen to like it that way it gives it more of a rustic look.

How to layer transfers for a different look

Lay pattern transfer down first then the transfer image on top. Use a little more pressure to get that chalk through both layers of screen silk.

Hot mess technique

Dab a little chalk in different colors, make sure you get enough paste on your surface then use your finger to blend it a little, wipe excess off with a squeegee.
Super easy and a fun way to add colors

Chalk and pull method

We use this method when we want to do multiple colors or you have a big transfer. If you were to do the whole image at once your chalk may dry before you pull up your transfer causing the paste to pull up and not getting the perfect image you want.

Make sure you use the cool setting on your hair dryer so you don’t melt your transfer when blow drying it.
