Today is World Autism Awareness Day.

Like many individuals with autism, I’ve experienced what it feels like to be overlooked for jobs. Not because of ability, but because traditional roles aren’t built for different ways of thinking and working.

That’s part of why I created Pumpkinful Porch Designs.

I’ve seen what happens when work is built around strengths like creativity, focus, and attention to detail. The results speak for themselves.

This isn’t just about awareness.

Women who lifted me up.

Today I’m thinking about a few incredible women who encouraged me along the way.

One was my very first client, a chiropractor who believed in my work when my business was just getting started.

Another was a news anchor who shared my story about being autistic and starting a business, helping more people see what’s possible.

Another was a kind client who hired me and offered words of encouragement that meant more than she probably realized.

Sometimes, the women who shape your journey are simply the ones who believe in you.

Today I’m grateful for the women who lift others up.

Most people assume seasonal businesses slow down when the season ends.

For me, this is when the real work begins.

February is when I step back and refine everything that made last fall feel effortless for my clients - the systems, design flow, logistics, and the details you never see but absolutely feel.

It’s when I ask important questions:
• How can I make the experience even smoother?
• How do I elevate the artistry in every pumpkin display?
• How do I create work that feels meaningful and sustainable behind the scenes?

I built something beautiful when the world didn’t see me.

Decorating porches with pumpkins turned out to be more than a business—it became my autism therapy, my purpose, and my way of showing what I can do.

Over 60% of autistic individuals never have a first job—I did, but I wanted one beyond the family business, so I created it.

And now I’m helping others do the same.

I’m honored to share that Pumpkinful Porch Designs has been recognized as one of Atlanta’s Inclusive Businesses of 2025.

Pumpkinful began because no one would hire me as an autistic individual. Traditional jobs didn’t make space, so I created my own.

What started as a pumpkin delivery and design business grew into something deeper: creating meaningful jobs, building confidence, and celebrating the talents of individuals on the autism spectrum.

Every pumpkin porch display I design carries purpose.

This recognition affirms what I’ve always believed—beauty and inclusion belong together.

And now, we’re already counting down to pumpkin season 2026: when porches become canvases again, and pumpkins create inclusive opportunity all over North Atlanta. 🍂
