A sweet little powder bath tucked quietly into the entryway of this home. Working within the existing timber-framed structure meant embracing a few asymmetrically placed beams along the way, and honestly, they became the charm.

Wrapped in one of our favorite wallpapers by and emphasized by a full height mirror, this space is a reminder that beauty doesn’t require perfect symmetry.

Our palette was shaped by nature and guided by restraint. We wanted the home to honor its mid-century modern roots while softening the edges with something a bit more timeless, feminine, and quietly refined.

From that vision came a layered mix of light terrazzo, warm white oak, and rich walnut tones, balanced with subtle touches of earthy green throughout. Every material was chosen to feel grounded and organic, speaking not only to the character of the home itself, but also to the people now caring for this mountain beauty and writing its next chapter.

Everyone meet our Redstone Canyon project!

Perched along the hillside in Redstone Canyon in Loveland, Colorado with unobstructed breathtaking views of Horsetooth Mountain, this mid-century modern mountain home has always been defined by its connection to the landscape. While the modern architecture carried a strong, iconic mountain presence with clean lines, the interior elements no longer supported the way this young couple wanted to live. Our design approach involved a full interior remodel to enhance livability while honoring the mountain retreat’s original character—refining the flow, introducing a more grounded material palette, and allowing the natural light and sightlines to take the lead throughout the main living spaces, bedrooms, and kitchen.

On the lower level, a former garage was reimagined as a wellness-driven modern mountain retreat, complete with a sauna, steam shower, cold plunge, TV lounge, and expansive bar—designed for both restoration and gathering. Throughout, we were intentional about preserving the home’s original architecture and stunning views, layering in a more modern, livable expression without altering its form. The result is a home that feels both settled and renewed—a modern mountain style that is deeply connected to its setting and designed to be experienced.

There’s something really special about coming back for a second chapter.

At Hudson Street, we intentionally held off on the kids’ baths and laundry room during the initial remodel—letting the rest of the home settle in before revisiting these spaces. A few years later, it felt so refreshing to return with a new perspective and reimagine what they could be.

This time around, we leaned in a little more—playing with tile, pattern, and moments that feel both thoughtful and a bit unexpected. We’re endlessly grateful for clients who trust the process and give us the freedom to explore… it’s where the magic really happens.

There’s something especially meaningful about reimagining the heart of a home. At Clarkson Street, the kitchen began as a small, enclosed space—quietly tucked away, with only a single north-facing window to draw in the light.

By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, we were able to open the space...inviting in light, connection, and a renewed sense of ease. What once felt closed-in now lives expansively, with room to gather, create, and simply be together.

Now, this kitchen serves as a warm and welcoming backdrop for a young family of three—an everyday place for meals, conversation, and the kind of moments that turn into lasting memories, all within the character-filled charm of their Denver Craftsman bungalow.

Ahh, the checkerboard tile moment, are you into it or not?
It’s definitely having a moment right now, but honestly, when it’s done right, it just feels classic in the best way.

This little bathroom had to work hard—it’s the main bathroom for a young family of three—so we leaned into both function and a bit of personality. The black vanity grounds everything and gives it that nice contrast, while the marble floor keeps things feeling soft and timeless.

We brought in full-height white oak linen cabinets for warmth (and let’s be real, much-needed storage), which tie back to the rest of the house in a really natural way.

And instead of a typical glass shower, we went with a custom linen pinch-pleat curtain from . It softens the whole space, adds a little movement, and keeps things feeling relaxed.

Clarkson Street is here!

If you happened to miss it in stories a couple weeks back, consider this your invitation to linger a little longer.

Tucked into Washington Park West, this 1901 Craftsman bungalow carries all the quiet character we love—its front-gabled roofline, a deep, welcoming porch, and those expressive structural details that feel so true to Denver’s early homes. The bones were always there. It just needed room to breathe again.

We’ll begin here in the entry, where we chose to leave the original parquet floors and sculptural wood staircase just as they were—too beautiful to disturb. A little bit of refinishing, stain and some fresh paint was all it took to make this space sing again.

More to come from Clarkson Street… 🤍

Hi, it’s us! 🤍 The faces behind J. Reiko Design + Co.

Better late than never—today felt like the right moment to pause and reflect, to introduce a newer (but already so integral) team member, and to celebrate a few meaningful milestones along the way.

This year, J. Reiko Design + Co. is nearing six years in business. Madi is celebrating more than three years with us, and Addie has just marked her one-year anniversary. So much has grown and shifted in ways I never could have imagined, and I’m deeply grateful for every step of the journey.

This work, this studio, this season—it wouldn’t be what it is without our small but mighty team. Feeling thankful for them, for our incredible trade partners and clients, and for all that’s still to come.
