GG’s is a traditional and a contemporary ceramic shop. On the traditional side you would pick out a piece of greenware (fresh from mold, not fired), then use cleaning tools that you have or that you’ve purchased and clean it of seams and imperfections. Green ware is cheaper because you are doing the cleaning. Green ware is as low as $0.50 and as high as $30 depending on the piece you pick. Average
price of tools is $5. This can be higher depending on your involvement and the tools you decide you need. Firing fee is ½ of your greenware cost. After your piece has been fired it’s ready to paint. (There are paints that go on greenware, but that is a little more advanced)
Then you have a choice of acrylics or glazes. Glazes run $3-8/bottle. Acrylics run $3-6/bottle. Brushes are $3-12. I do have kits available at a higher price. We have an open table option where you can use the first 55 Doc Holliday acrylics, brushes and sealer for $10/person plus the cost of your bisque. We have bisque available for $1-50. Acrylics are a do it now, take it home today process. Glazes will need to be fired another time. The cost of the piece is determined by size and complexity of the piece. The bigger the piece, the higher the price. The more attachments it has the higher the price. Average group rate: $25 (this is an average, not an exact)
We are open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for Walk-ins from Noon to 4:30pm. Groups are welcome during this time as seating allows. Saturday tends to fill up fast, so come early. Other hours are available for groups and parties, reservations required. Classes:
I have a Green Ware 101 class. Introducing you to the traditional side, and showing you cleaning techniques. The cost is $20. This cost includes the tools that I have available, a piece of Greenware ($5 value) and the first firing fee. Classes are done by piece, by technique or by product, and vary depending on the piece, the paint, the number of firings, etc. I have a list at the shop with prices already marked of classes that I have done. They range from $20-50. Classes will also be listed in events here on FaceBook. I am happy to schedule your class anytime you like. We have tables available for you to work at in the shop, or you can purchase items and take them home to do. I hope that I answered all of your questions. As you can see, you can get involved a little or a lot, that level is totally up to you.
