Completed my first tapestry project! I started over too many times to count- learned a few of the conversions from an English pattern to an American pattern along the way, but it sure looks super cute 🥰

Here's a simple, beginner-friendly Easter-themed crochet dishcloth pattern. It's quick to make and perfect for beginners!

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn in pastel colors (e.g., yellow, pink, blue, or green)

5mm crochet hook

Scissors

Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)

Abbreviations:

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

sl st = slip stitch

st(s) = stitch(es)

Easter Dishcloth Pattern

Size: Approximately 8" x 8" (you can adjust the size by adding or reducing chains)

Step 1: Foundation Chain

Ch 31 (or any multiple of 2 + 1 for your preferred size). This will be the width of your dishcloth.

Step 2: Row 1

Starting in the second ch from the hook, sc across all the chains (30 sc). This is the first row.

Ch 1 and turn your work.

Step 3: Rows 2-30 (or until the desired length)

Sc in each st across (30 sc).

After each row, ch 1 and turn your work.

Step 4: Border (Optional but looks nice)

Once you’ve completed the main part of the dishcloth, you can add a simple border.

Ch 1, and sc evenly around the entire edge of the dishcloth.

For corners, make 3 sc in each corner stitch to keep the edges neat.

Sl st to the first sc to join, and then fasten off.

Step 5: Weave in Ends

Use a yarn needle to weave in any loose ends.

Optional Easter Decoration (Simple Dots or Bunny Shape)

If you want to add a fun Easter touch, you can add dots or small bunny shapes using contrasting colors after finishing the main dishcloth. Just use small stitches (e.g., slip stitches, or small rounds) to make shapes like a bunny or eggs.

This is a super easy pattern to practice, and you can get creative by using different colors for the border or adding Easter designs.

How to Make It an Exact Match:

Colors: Make sure to use yellow, pink, blue, green, and white yarn to match the pastel tones in the photo.

Bunny Appliqué: Follow the pattern instructions to create the bunny, ensuring it is placed in the corner of the dishcloth, just like in the photo.

Stripes and Border: Keep the stripes evenly spaced, ensuring that the white border surrounds the dishcloth as shown.

I learned tapestry crochet; however, I didn’t realize, until done with the main part and one other piece that just wouldn’t work, that if a pattern has a British flag, it’s different than one written in the USA. A double crochet in a British pattern is a single crochet in an American pattern. Lots to redo, but it sure looks nice!
