The world is changing and AI has its uses whether we like it or not.

When I first started embroidery, I was able to see real images and realistic expectations. It was something that made me think I could do hand embroidery.

When you’re just starting out, a bit of reassurance goes a long way. In different forums I have seen new embroiderers buying an AI pattern without realising and getting upset that their embroidery looks so different or that a stitch in the pattern looks absolutely nothing like the image.

I do not use AI generated images for my embroidery. All my designs have been stitched by me before I make them into a pattern and guide for you to try. I want you to feel confident that you can make it and that the colours I suggest are the colours that I used myself.

So today when I received the email to say that Etsy was taking action on these listings, I was really glad to see it.

This is not about being against technology it is just about transparency and honesty behind the images.
Etsy is a place I’ve always associated with handmade creativity and I think buyers deserve to know what they’re looking at when they shop.

If you have ever been disappointed by an AI generated patterns I’d love to hear your experience?

Woven wheel stitch with French knots 🌹
