It’s been a busy summer here at Bluebird Homestead! We have loved our time with the new kids on the farm, a family reunion, mother daughter trip, and lots and lots of work to keep all the animals (and humans!) cool, healthy and well ❤️ Enjoy some photo documentation of our last two months!

I listened to Sue Beckers Interview on Warrior Poet Society this morning. It filled my heart with gratitude that milling fresh flours and baking our bread was impressed upon my heart so many years ago. I have been thinking all day today about all of the wonderful, happy memories we have spent together in the kitchen.

I put the picture of my husband, holding a big handful of dough when we were making bread together in those early years because I love that Sue in her interview points out that fathers are the providers, who are meant to help provide healthy food to their families. I am so grateful to my husband who listened when I said I felt we needed to take back our bread and allowed me to buy a grain mill and a Bosch from his paycheck ❤️ 🍞

Give this a listen- especially if your mind has been mulling over this new (old) craft of milling your own whole flours.

Give it a listen if you have been abstaining from gluten as an adult due to avoiding processed food or due to digestive and other health issues. Gluten is not the problem. It is the answer but only if it is real and unprocessed.

I love that Sue is forging this path and continuing to spread the word about real bread and how life giving it is. Thank you Sue Becker for your persistence, bravery and passion.

This is one of the sweet noses I give a little kiss to every morning and night after they give our family their delicious, creamy milk. She even leans in for it❤️

I love that she knows her name and wags her tail when she sees us. I love that she knows exactly where to go for milking time and she knows she gets a thank you nose kiss and two hazelnuts. I am the luckiest.
