⚠️Steam mops may seem like the best way to get your floors squeaky clean...but for floors like LVP and hardwoods, you are doing more harm than good.

Here’s why 👇

The high heat and moisture from steam mops can:
❌ Weaken adhesives
❌ Cause planks to shift or separate
❌ Damage protective finishes
❌ Lead to swelling or warping in wood products

Even though many modern floors are durable, excess heat and moisture are still something you want to avoid.
For quality floors like those from Shaw Floors, the safest cleaning method is usually:
✔️ A microfiber mop
✔️ A damp (not soaking wet) mop
✔️ Manufacturer-approved cleaners (like the one pictured)

💡 A little less water goes a long way when it comes to protecting your floors.

Thinking about new floors? Here’s something most people don’t realize…

👉 What’s underneath matters just as much as what you see on top.

These photos show a floor we recently pulled up—and as you can see, it wasn’t ready for new flooring just yet.

When old flooring is removed, it often leaves behind glue residue and uneven spots that need to be properly sanded and leveled before anything new can go down.

Before installing any new product (even high-quality options from Shaw Floors), proper prep is KEY:

✔️ Leveling the subfloor
✔️ Sanding down old adhesive residue
✔️ Fixing damaged areas
✔️ Making sure everything is clean and stable

⚠️ Skipping this step can lead to:
❌ Uneven floors
❌ Noise issues
❌ Premature wear

This is one of the biggest factors that affects the total cost—but it’s also what ensures your floors last the way they should.
