A room can be cozy and functional, no matter the size. Sometimes you need to find creative solutions to work with the room you have. Here are my 3 tips for creating a beautiful and functional bedroom when working with a smaller space.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Determine your specific storage needs before buying furniture or a closet organization system. When every inch of space counts, going through this exercise will help you to figure out the types of things that require storage and makes it easier to find solutions that will truly work for you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Invest in a quality bed frame and bedding, with details that you love. The bed is the focal point of the room and the frame or bedding that you choose can really elevate the look of the space. And the details - whether it's the fabric on the headboard or the pattern on the duvet cover - those things can add more depth and interest to the design of the space.

3. Create a cozy atmosphere that you will enjoy going to at the end of the day. You could bring in soft layers like knit throw blankets, listen to calming music or sounds, and diffuse essential oils.

3 Steps To Take Before Starting a Home Decorating Project ⬇️

I made some mistakes as a new homeowner with decorating and I've seen other people jump into a project only for it to not turn out as expected - all because of not doing the research or planning in advance.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you're thinking about decorating a new space, here are three things to consider first:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌿Imagine yourself living in the space and how you want to feel when you're in it. Write down all of the ways that you will use the space.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌿Find inspiration from other rooms that match your color preferences or style. Pinterest and Instagram are great places to start. Also, note anything that you do not like such as colors, fabrics, wood tones, etc.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌿Decide what furniture you have and want to keep, which items you no longer want, and what you'll need to purchase. It's helpful to have a furniture plan to ensure everything will fit and work in your space.

Spending time in nature and bringing some of that indoors helps to create a more tranquil space and bring calm to busy days. With warm sunny weather all weekend, I spent as much time outside as possible.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I took a trip to Home Depot to get flowers for our back patio and picked up just a few more indoor plants to add some greenery to the home gym and for my office. Outdoor gardening is always an experiment for me, I'll share the final result once everything is planted!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Mixing materials and textures can tell an interesting story within your home. In this one little corner you have the cream upholstered chair, the mix of light and medium wood tones in the console table and floor, and the shiny tile on the fireplace.

TIP: If you look at a space in your home and feel like there’s something missing, try mixing in another material or texture that you are not currently using in your room. Sometimes a space can fall flat if there’s not enough variation.
