Yarns To Dye For

Yarns To Dye For Yarn, supplies, notions, classes and much more! Always something new for knitters and crocheters, weavers and spinners too! We're not all just yarn though.

Founded in January, 2010, Yarns To Dye For is a specialty yarn shop located at 19 Ash Street in historic downtown Frankfort, IL across from the Old Plank Trail & Breidert Green. We stock yarn from around the world and our expert staff of knitting & crochet instructors take part in all vendor meetings to ensure that we will always carry some of the best yarns you will find in Chicago's South & Sou

thwest Suburbs. We are proud to feature the dynamic duo of Amy and Pat, our fabulous knitting & crocheting instructors. They lead several class series here at the shop teaching everything from the basics of knitting & crochet up through intermediate and advanced patterns as well as knitting & crocheting techniques. When not teaching, Amy & Pat are on hand to help you choose your next project and to answer any knitting & crochet related questions. We carry a wide variety of notions to help you with your projects. We have a full range of knitting needles, crochet hooks, stitch counters, hand-made project bags and much, much more. If you don't see it, please don't hesitate to ask us. Chances are that Jean, the shop proprietor, can order what you need. We also carry prints by Rosalind Lyons, a local artist with some of the most excellent drawings of Chicagoland landmarks you've ever seen and Yarns To Dye For is proud to be the only place where you can purchase Rosalind's prints. If you don't see a landmark you're looking for, let us know. Rosalind is known to take commissions. Every Thursday night, you are invited to join the crew from Knot Just Knitting as they invade the shop for one of two weekly meetings. The KJK crew is a very diverse group of ladies (and sometimes gentlemen & on rare occasions, a Klingon Knitter). Bring your project & dive on in for an enjoyable evening of stitching & conversation. We hope you stop in soon and let us assist you with your knitting & crocheting needs!

For those hitting the ocean and waves this summer.
This is really simple. You can spot a rip current. Unfortunately, it's where it looks easiest and safest to enter the sea. This is because the rip current is looping around and pulling back OUT. Hence no waves rolling IN. NEVER ENTER THE SEA HERE. If you are already in the sea and get caught in a rip current (you'll know because you will suddenly be moved from your location and it will be impossible to swim against it) don't panic. Swim ACROSS, not against the rip current. For example, rather than trying to swim to shore while being pushed out, swim parallel to the beach and you will be able to get out. Then you can swim ashore. Please educate friends or family visiting the beaches this summer. Stay safe

It is with mixed emotions the I must announce the closing of my brick and mortar store Yarns to Dye For in Frankfort. I am so very grateful for the 14 years of loyal support you have given me. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to share your lives and passion for your crafts. I am excited to say we will still be offering our premium quality yarn on an online platform with more details to follow in the coming weeks. Please stop by before July 28th which will be our final day at this location. We will be offering discounts and selling the bags for the yarn crawl. Once again thank you for all the wonderful memories.
