The weather is beautiful, two new large pieces of furniture, and more display room. Perfect timing, since I'm putting out antique books, colorful.old sheet music ready to frame and vintage cookie jars. That first one would make a happy kitchen. And if you're looking for some interesting outside pots or statuary, walk out of the back door and you're in the zone. Spring is finally here and Nest feathers is open!

Wow. I have some local mountain carved animal figures in my shop, but this is a bit more complicated! The carving is beautiful, and astounding when you realize all of that detail is inside a rosary bead. Impressive. If you go to the website, you can click and get large resolution photos of these carvings, the outside of the prayer bead and the carved protective center cover. This is from The Netherlands, Medieval period, donated to the museum by J. Pierpont Morgan in 1917. Happy Week Before Christmas!

Saw this on a website today and had to share. Talk about an appealing place to sit. AND it's a rocking chair. I wish one of the furniture stores in Hickory, NC would bring this model back into fashion! English mid 19th century.R.W Winfield Rocking Chair. Just in case the grandkids are looking for a great gift idea for me. ;)

Well, like the rest of you we are staying in and staying safe. But there are some good things about self-quarantine - take a look at the tea towel my daughter's creative neighbor made for her. Even better, it's displayed on the antique brass lady that we found and gave to her a few years back. I'd like to find another one of those to put at Nest Feathers. ;) I hope we're all able to get out and hit our favorite shops soon!

Are you still looking for the perfect gift for the history buff, book lover or antique admirer? I have some beautifully bound books, some with frontispiece (great word, right?) all the way back to 1790. Leather bound, illustrated, and just for fun, check the one page from the old Intelligencer book on turnips. That funny S - takes me a while to read it correctly in my head. Try it! And stop by for these and other small gifts that are special and easy to wrap and/or mail.

What a find and adaptation of this 12th century house! Note the furniture - the owner used pieces from his family to be sure he kept the old, comfy feel of this wonderful space. It's hard to imagine when you see all of it in my space at Nest Feathers, but try to picture how much charm they could add to YOUR space. Antiques are family history.

When a grand house falls into decay, there is rarely any shortage of worthy bodies and individuals to rush to its rescue, lavishing cash and compliments and ensuring it’s saved from the bulldozers. There are, however, hundreds more properties, more modest but still an integral part of our heritage...

SPOILER - I do NOT own this, it is not in my shop. But it's fun to look at beautiful work and admire the design and skill of the maker. This Art Nouveau sofa would look perfect in the dressing room of the dowager of Downton Abbey. But I'm pretty sure everyone would be too afraid to sit on it. ;) Happy Friday!

Have you ever been to Nestfeathers? Well, I think MY booth is the best, but I love to walk around the other three floors to see what other antique lovers have in their domain. Come in, there's lots to see! My daughter's kitchenalia fascination would be satisfied in those last two. 😇
