Our latest renovation is ready! Only one sweet family has lived in this home since 1955. We were thrilled to have the chance to get it ready for the next homeowner, and of course we love all things mid-century!

Speaking of mid-century, we discovered the original tile floors remained under the new tile the previous family added. So we embraced it, restored it, and used it as the jumping off point for our color palette. It’s one of our favorite spots in the home. 💚

It’s located in Nashville’s quaint Crieve Hall neighborhood, minutes away from downtown Nashville, Brentwood and Greenville Hills. We put in an entirely new kitchen including all new appliances, marble floors, and a large walk-in pantry. The new primary bedroom has a walk-in closet and all new bathroom with added storage and marble floors. And many more special moments throughout.

What’s more important to a home than the kitchen? There’s a lot to consider when remodeling a space…here we decided to keep most of the plumbing in the same place, but extended the overall kitchen area, and opened it to the living and dining areas. We added an island and a perimeter wall that includes a wall oven, microwave, side-by-side fridge and bar area. Let’s talk kitchen design…what are your favorite trends and/or what classics do you hold dear? We generally start with a classic foundation because let’s face it, when you invest in your kitchen, you want it to look great for years to come! So the cabinet profiles and finishes, the countertops, and of course the appliances should be designed with that in mind. The finishes that are easier to swap out and update, like the light fixtures and cabinet hardware, are where you can easily throw in a touch of trend…sort of like the jewelry and shoes you can add to your favorite LBD to change the look all together! 824 Russleo Drive is the perfect blend of classic and trends, and still has room to personalize it even further! There’s a lot to consider when developing and designing a new construction speculative home…from size to style and everything in between. When we first expanded the investment/speculative side of our business (our renovations) to also invest and collaborate on the development and design of new construction projects with Windsor Homes, we reached out to one of our favorite architectural firms we’ve worked with for a decade, P. Shea Design, to help. For the Russleo project, we knew we wanted an architectural style that would be consistent with the style of homes that were built in that area for the past 70+ years. The site plan, landscaping plan and of course the floor plan were also key considerations during our collaborative development process. Making sure adjacencies, scale, circulation, cabinet layouts, custom built-ins, trim details, overall function, lighting locations, low voltage and outlet placements, value engineering in general, and a million other details were all considered and intentional is all a part of the process when designing and developing a project like this. And let’s not forget the finishes and selections…it’s only the final layer of the design process, but it definitely can steal the show! The beauty of a speculative house is that so much of the work that can be so overwhelming is already done for whoever gets to turn this house into their home! The scene is set and ready for someone’s individual personality to be layered in!
