Did you know the heart behind Zula & Mac comes with a true Southern love story?

The tale of how it all began is preserved in a 1943 newspaper article right in the Williamson County Archives. 📰

It all started when Mr. Green rode his saddle horse two hours each way to Dickson County just to court “the sparkling and pretty brunette” named Zula Jane Tomlinson.

He made the journey to Big Turnbull so many times over three years that the moment he got dressed up, his horse would automatically turn around and start heading her way without him even pulling the reins!

When the day finally came to get married on January 14, 1941, their buggy broke down en route to the preacher, and their mule literally walked off, leaving them sitting right in the middle of the road.

They finished the trip on foot, borrowed the parson’s buggy to get home, and proved that sometimes a “bad beginning makes a good ending.”

Many of you have reached out with questions about the upcoming road work near our Lewisburg Avenue store, and we want to clear the air: we aren't going anywhere—we’re just growing!

While a road closure is coming soon, our original doors remain wide open. This space holds 40 years of Hood family history and memories. It’s a spot we are deeply proud of, and we are fully committed to honoring and preserving it.

It’s definitely not our first “road-eo” 😅—and while there may be a few detours ahead, you will always still be able to access us here. We aren’t relocating; we’re simply expanding! We are so excited about our second location opening this fall at The Factory! 🥂✨

In the meantime, our Flagship store at Lewisburg Ave is fully stocked for the cozy season ahead! From autumn home refreshes to upcoming holiday decor and seasonal gifting, we can’t wait to help you style your spaces and find the perfect gifts! 🍂🎁
