Life is too short not to have fun with creating a home. Try new things. You can always change something if you don’t like it. I used to shy away from using color in my home. But lately, I have been loving bringing in some pops of red and yellow with my blue and white.

Adding colors looks different for everyone and that’s ok. Some like more, others less. Some like bright colors, others like muted. Sometimes it is fun to step outside the box a bit and that is what I have been trying to do in my home. Mix patterns and colors and just make our home a happy place to be.

My advice? Try something new in your home. Add some color (in a way that feels right to you) and have some fun in your home this summer!

If creating a home that is fun, cozy, lived in and comfortable are things you enjoy, I hope you will stay a while here!

Here is a look back at May, as we welcome June today.

Hard to believe June is already here and in just a few weeks it will officially be summer.

My garden is just about finished, I have a few seeds to get in the ground this week. I already have a bunch of flowers popping up! I can hardly wait for all the flowers to be in full bloom.

It’s been an absolutely lovely week in Corolla, NC.
We are staying on the 4x4 beach in Carova and we plan to come back again next year because we enjoyed it so much.

The wild horses are gorgeous and it’s so neat to see them playing down in the waves. They just do their own thing and totally ignore the people. There are some foals too, which is so sweet to see.

Spending time with family is always time well spent.

Summer is making its way into my home! While I love Christmas time, summer is my favorite time of year. I love the sunshine, warm weather, relaxed feeling and my flower garden.

We are actually in Corolla, NC for the week and I sure hope the sun comes out and we can enjoy the beach!

A quick and easy patriotic DIY project! I used scrap fabric and a thrifted sheet to make this bow garland!

Here’s how I made it:
1. Cut/tore fourteen 4 inch fabric strips (you can adjust the number of bows depending on how long you need the garland to be.
2. Tie the fabric strips into bows.
3. Use hot glue to attach the bows together.

I added some red books to the mantel and some small flags too!

As we head into this Memorial Day weekend, take a moment to pause and remember what this weekend is truly about.

What are the stories these old quilts hold? I often wonder. I bet they are well traveled.

I have always had a deep appreciation for things that are old. The more worn, the better. Many of the quilts in my collection are tattered with holes and faded. To me, that is part of their charm.

Their stories are safe with me, whatever they are and they will live on in my home.

🍓 Cozy Summer Stills 🍓

This week, I started to welcome summer into my home. It’s always a slow transition around here. I do a little here and there until I figure out exactly how I want things.

I have also been SO busy in the garden. I shared in stories some behind scenes. I think I have planted well over a 100 seedlings the last two days. I re-designed the layout of my garden this year, so it’s taking me more time. All the work will pay off in just a few short weeks.

Easy $5 dollar DIY!

I found this little wood tray at a yard sale for just $5. The wallpaper I used was leftover from when we had the accent wall done in our bedroom. I knew the wallpaper would be perfect to give this tray a little character.

If you don’t have wallpaper, you could use wrapping paper. You could also use a wood tray and use Mod Podge or spay adhesive to attach the paper to the tray!

My home is a bit like the weather right now… little bit of summer with some spring still mixed in!

I am so ready for summer though. Today, all my cut flowers are going into my garden and I couldn’t be more excited. That means summer is right around the corner!
