At J.Plum Home we aim to bring brightness, warmth, and style into your home with refreshed furniture finds, home decor pieces, and custom creations. A husband and wife team based out of Naples, Maine, we scour the state to find pre-loved furniture pieces to restore and redesign with a fresh look that honors their original details. In our travels, we also find vintage home decor items that we add t

o our collection. We love hearing stories and history about the pieces we find and always try to pass them on. With both our furniture and decor, we embrace the combination of old and new. We enjoy bringing fresh life to older pieces, as well as enriching new things with the history and age of previously loved items. In the end, we aim to create a cozy, welcoming space - both in our home and yours! We are always open to custom projects! This past weekend, we heard SO many people say, “I’ve been meaning to come in all summer but this is the first chance I’ve had!” It was almost always said with an apologetic tone…so let’s be clear on one thing. Never, ever apologize for walking into a small business! We are thrilled to see you ANY TIME you come in, whether it’s your first time or your ninety-first. And if it’s taken you a while, pfft, whatever. At least you’re here now and we are grateful for that!

As we start to take a deep breath from summer’s excitement and settle into fall’s cozy calm, we can’t wait to get to know all of you even better. sometimes I focus so much on furniture or vignettes, I forget to let you know when new items hit the floor! from fun new books to gorgeous Faith Haggerty original mini paintings; creative kids activities to ones for their adults too; and tools to help self-regulate big emotions and beautiful books to let imaginations soar too - and this it doesn’t even touch the fall things in like decor, candles, and pantry/dinner goods.

My biggest suggestion with faux florals is to remember that they are meant to be manipulated - bend the stems to shorten, stretch the branches to fill space and look more natural, and you can even trim with scissors if you want to make bouquets into single blooms or stems.

My second piece of advice is to have fun with it! Try out new color or varietal combinations, choose new vessels (they don’t have to be water safe after all!), and switch things out seasonally. Just keep trying things out until something feels like it works! It’s really not too deep, y’all 😉
