This custom linocut birth flower bouquet was made for our family by FollysomePrints. Mindy is the absolute sweetest and she knocked this project out of the park for me.
An original birth flower bouquet that is our little family. Our party of three. The Meier Homestead. Lily of the Valley representing my husband, Larkspur for our daughter, and Morning Glory for me.
Mindy started by sketching out our birth flowers. She then hand carved the design using a process called linocut. Linocut, also called linoleum cut, is a type of print made from a sheet of linoleum into which a design has been cut in relief. This process of printmaking is similar to woodcut but since linoleum lacks a grain, linocuts can yield a greater variety of effects than woodcuts can (source: www.brittanica.com).
The design shown is our 6”x8” carving on 9”x12” paper. Original artwork on quality art paper printed in black professional relief ink, all of archival quality.
The next step is to frame this piece and hang it in our home. I’m still deciding on that as the vintage frame I originally intended to use is a bit bigger than the paper.
