Lots of our windows got a little fancier today! Our house lets in so much natural light, which is amazing except when we’re literally being blinded by the light. We did woven wood shades, fabric shades, and plantation shutters. They make all of our rooms feel a little bit more complete. The girls room’s all got plantation shutters. They look good, but they will really pop when we get all of their rooms painted pretty colors.

*Not show is the garage. We added plantation shutters to the three windows in there as well because they face the front of the house and we wanted it all to be cohesive.

Jessica Jose made this happen for us and we are so pleased! She’s here in Aledo & does fabulous work! We’re using her again for phase 2 of our window project later on to do some of the windows on the backside of our house. I can’t wait, but Nick says I have to.😉

I had no idea fabric-covered bulletin boards were such a hot commodity right now! I needed one for this wall space in our new pantry, but when I was shopping on Etsy, I was shocked to see how expensive they are! So, I did what I do in these situations and I made my own.

I ordered the memo/bulletin board off Amazon, got the fabric and fabric adhesive spray from Hobby Lobby, and used our staple gun to make sure the fabric was extra secure. Nick screwed through the board directly into the wall to hang it. So simple and so affordable!

This was the first little area in our new house that got styled. It’s so cute!☺️

Strategically placing mirrors where they can reflect outdoor greenery and natural light helps open up spaces. We have LOTS of mirrors in our home!

That cute little dresser was a Facebook Marketplace find I scooped up over the summer. I think I paid $50 for it. A sweet lady who had lived in Dallas for the last 75 years was moving, so I told her family I’d take care of this pretty girl.

I went shopping at my friends house from her own collection of treasures and now it’s my new favorite way to shop.

I was at her house a few weeks ago and was stopped in my tracks when I saw her gallery wall (third photo). It’s a showstopper, right?

Nick has a few framed art pieces that are pretty large and I was getting ready to try to sell them because I couldn’t figure out a way to display all of them in his office that seemed right. When I saw my friend’s gallery wall, I knew immediately that that’s what I was doing in his office with his photos.

The second photo is the current state of the gallery wall in Nick‘s office. I already owned most of those pieces. I grabbed a few of them from an antique mall here in Aledo and now I get to add the pieces I got this morning from my friend. Most everything up on that wall has some kind of significance or meaning to our family. I love that I’m getting to add pieces that my friend, who inspired this whole thing, handpicked herself. I might be in a yellow era. I ordered “Brazilian yellow” buffalo plaid drapes for our kitchenette area on a whim. I was between an ecru beige color and yellow. I decided just to go for it with the yellow! Then I was inspired by Oyster Creek Studios 🐚 with these Billy Bob flowers — she has some sitting on her coffee table and they’re such a fun pop of color and unique vase filler. I just love these — the yellow mixed with my blues and whites is so pretty and happy!

Here are some interior photos from before we dumped everything we own inside! It’s still a mess right now, but it’s getting there.

We bought the house early enough in the build that I was able to pick out the wood floor stain, paint colors, most of the lighting and mirrors (there was a mess up with the two kitchen pendants, so those will not be staying for forever 😳), floor tile, bath & shower tile, countertops, exterior lighting, faucet hardware, door hardware, kitchen cabinet hardware, ceiling fans, and probably a few more things I’m forgetting.

The builder let me bring in my own lights and mirror (the entry and dining nook lights, and the mirror in the blue pool bath were mine from our old house).

We moved!🏡 Our House on Hideaway belongs to someone else and we are settling in to our new House on Nocona.

We joked about moving, but on Valentine’s Day I was scrolling through Instagram and another post from my sorority sister popped up. Her home is gorgeous. I know the Internet is not always real life, but her family seems to live a little slower and simpler, which is what Nick and I have been wanting for our girls. I did what any sane person does and I looked up her address on the Internet. I figured out roughly where she lives, but not her exact location. From there, I went on Zillow just for fun and was looking around her town for available houses. I found a few and then I couldn’t let it go. I somehow convinced Nick to drive an hour and 20 minutes the next day to go look at a house. We weren’t even able to go inside, we just got to look at the area and the exterior of the house. We drove around the town a little bit and just fell in love with the winding roads, the hills, the horses and cows everywhere, just everything. We both got this feeling inside of us that we couldn’t shake.

5 months later and we are in our new home! Life happens fast! I don’t think I’ve done so much in my whole life as I was able to do in those five months. I’m still exhausted, but it was so worth it.

We left behind A LOT to get out here including my family, which makes me emotional every time I think about it (I’m crying as a write this). Our neighbors on our street were the kind that I’m pretty sure you only get once in a lifetime. I could go on and on because we really had some good roots planted in the Frisco area.

I know that when God speaks, you better listen. I prayed so hard about this move. There were so many little things that happened that kept reassuring me this was the right decision for us and little things continue to happen now that we’re here.

We already love this town so much and we’re so excited for what’s ahead!
