I’ve gone back and forth about sharing this, but lately I’ve really been struggling.
Since coming home from Tennessee, I have been completely exhausted. Not just ā€œI need a good night’s sleepā€ tired, but the kind of exhaustion that feels like it’s living in your bones. My body has been fighting me lately with two bulging discs, two broken toes, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and some hormonal changes that have brought brain fog, poor sleep, and a few other symptoms I’ll spare you the details of.
I have an appointment with my hormone specialist and I’m getting my bloodwork done, so I’m taking care of that part. But I’m realizing how much I’ve been asking of myself. I came home from Tennessee and immediately jumped back into Oregon buying trips, unloading, resetting the store, working long days, and trying to get everything ready for my website launch.
Then there’s the flat lays, invoices, packing orders, shipping, cooking dinner, chores, being a mom… and somewhere in there I’m supposed to rest and heal. The truth is, I’m not. I’m tired. I’m overwhelmed. I feel like I could cry at any given moment, and when I get home I just want to crawl into bed. And the hardest part? I LOVE what I do. I’m so incredibly grateful for this business and every single customer who continues to support me. I don’t take any of it for granted. But loving what you do doesn’t mean it doesn’t take a toll. I’ve spent so much time trying to keep up that I’m finally having to admit I’m running myself into the ground. So I’m trying to learn how to pace myself. Maybe the website can take a little longer. Maybe the flat lay can wait. Maybe the boxes can ship tomorrow. Maybe I can sit down without feeling guilty.
I’m still going to show up, still going to bring you beautiful old things, and I’m still so excited about what’s happening at The Vintage Bunkhouse. But I also need to take care of the person behind it. So if things are a little slower for a bit, please know it’s not because I don’t care. It’s because I’m learning that I can’t pour from an empty cup. Thank you for being here, supporting my business, and giving me grace while I figure out how to do all of this without completely burning myself out. ā¤ļø

Four days. Three Oregon towns. One very full trailer. And now… an entirely NEW Vintage Bunkhouse.

I just spent the last four days shopping my way through Molalla, Aurora & Silverton, Oregon, hunting down the kind of old, unusual, beautifully worn treasures that make my heart happy. And let me tell you… I came home with a TRAILER FULL.

Then came the "fun" part. I unloaded every single piece, turned the entire store upside down, and spent the day completely RESETTING The Vintage Bunkhouse with all-new finds from the show.

New displays. New treasures. New little corners to discover. Old things with stories, patina, texture and character everywhere you look. From antique ephemera and old bottles to painted furniture, vintage florals, artwork, primitive pieces and all those odd little things you never knew you needed until you see them sitting on a shelf.

I wanted you to walk through the doors and feel like you were stepping into something completely fresh because there is SO much to see right now.

So if you’ve been waiting for a reason to come treasure hunting… this is it.

The trailer is empty, the store is FULL, and I cannot wait for you to come see what I brought home for you.

There are some places you visit once… and somehow they just become part of your story.

Hi, I’m Kara, the girl behind The Vintage Bunkhouse and if you’re new around here, welcome! I’m an antique hunter, treasure seeker, and professional ā€œI have absolutely no idea how I’m getting that homeā€ kind of girl.

Last year, I came to the Hometown Vintage Market by Barnhouse Chicks at the Coleman Ranch in Molalla, Oregon, and fell completely in love with this incredible event. Miss Lorzell puts on the most amazing market every year, bringing together the most incredible vintage vendors, treasures, and people.

And apparently, I have a thing with signs.

Last year, I found an almost identical ā€œOVERSIZED LOADā€ sign here. So when I came back this year and found another one this time a ā€œWIDE LOADā€ sign I knew it was only fitting. Some treasures just seem to find you exactly where they’re supposed to. šŸ–¤šŸ’›

So here I am again, wandering the fields, loading up my wagon, hunting for the unusual, the forgotten, and the pieces that make you stop and say, ā€œI NEED THAT.ā€

And I can’t wait to bring these treasures all the way home to The Vintage Bunkhouse and, ultimately, to YOU.
Stay tuned… because if you know me, you know this wagon is just getting started. šŸ˜‰
This double sided wide load will be available in our shop soon until then come shop our amazing vendors and see what new fall decor we have in stock!
Open today from 10-5pm 241 SW 3rd Street in historic downtown Fruitland Idaho.

The fresh truck unload at The Vintage Bunkhouse that makes you want to stop everything and come see what just arrived. šŸ¤Ž

This week brought in SO many beautiful new pieces including this gorgeous primitive oxblood cabinet, our beautiful mid-century modern buffet, and that stunning white chippy built-in hutch that literally sold immediately after we unloaded it from the truck! 😳

And that is exactly how things work around here. When you see something you love, you have to act on it. These pieces are one-of-a-kind, and once they’re gone, they’re usually gone forever. We don’t have a warehouse full of duplicates waiting in the back. What you see is what we have and the best pieces can disappear FAST.

And we’re just getting started… šŸ‚

Fall is making its way into the shop with lots of beautiful fall decor, little peeks of Halloween šŸŽƒ, fresh vegetables, dried florals, vintage treasures, and of course, all of those delicious fresh-baked goodies you’ve been loving.

So if you’ve been meaning to stop in… this is your sign. Come see what’s new before someone else falls in love with it first. šŸ˜‰

šŸ‚ There’s something about a new pillow on the front porch…

It’s not just a pillow. It’s the beginning of a feeling.

It’s settling into your favorite chair or curling up on the porch swing while the morning air turns crisp. It’s wrapping your hands around a warm cup of coffee or tea, listening to the quiet, and watching the first hints of fall begin to settle into the world around you. šŸ

It’s changing a few little things around your home and suddenly feeling like the season has arrived.

A new pillow. A cozy throw. A little bit of texture. Warm autumn colors. Maybe a touch of vintage charm. Those small details are what turn a porch into a place you want to linger.

Come see us at The Vintage Bunkhouse this week and find a little piece of that fall feeling to take home with you. šŸ¤Ž

There is something magical about this time of year...šŸŽƒšŸ‚šŸ„§

The days begin to soften, the evenings arrive a little earlier, and before long the trees will trade their summer greens for glowing shades of amber, gold, and crimson. The Harvest Moon will rise, cool breezes will carry the scent of pumpkin spice, and somewhere in the distance you'll hear the laughter of children dreaming about Halloween night.

It's the season of front porches dressed in pumpkins, flickering lanterns, cozy blankets, crackling candles, and homes that feel just a little warmer. It's decorating mantels with vintage treasures, gathering around to watch your favorite spooky movies, sharing ghost stories, sipping something warm, and sneaking a piece (or two!) of the Halloween candy before the trick-or-treaters arrive.

Fall isn't just another season it's a feeling. It's the excitement of watching nature put on one last breathtaking show before winter settles in. It's moonlit nights, rustling leaves, and that unmistakable ember glow that reminds us to slow down and savor the beauty around us.

Here at The Vintage Bunkhouse, we're embracing every bit of that magic. From vintage Halloween treasures and cozy autumn dƩcor to one-of-a-kind finds that make your home feel like fall has truly arrived, we can't wait to help you create a season filled with warmth, nostalgia, and memories.

Come wander the shop, breathe in the cozy atmosphere, and celebrate the season with us. Fall is calling... and we couldn't be more excited. šŸ‚šŸŽƒšŸŒ™āœØ
