3 things you need to do before anything else!
1.) Make your guest list - it will drive a bulk of your decision making and narrow down your options. It will determine your venue, catering, amenities, favors, timeline and SO many other things. This is the first thing you do!
2.) Discuss money! This is usually an uncomfortable conversation, but hey, that’s part of relationships, no?! Talk about how much, who and how the wedding celebrations will be paid for. This will help you understand some parameters as you dive into planning. The deeper you get into exploring options and services the more you’ll realize weather your ‘budgets’ are realistic for your needs. This will also help you start determining what are needs vs. wants.
3.) GET a WEDDING PLANNER! Especially if you are having any type of outdoor or tented event. The wedding planner will take your guest counts, your budgets and your list of wants, needs and desires and mold them into an actualized experience. There is a reason why wedding planners do their job full time…and after 14 years of being in the industry I’ve found more often than not people regretting not getting a planner the month of, few weeks out or the week of their event but by that time it is too late 🥺. An excellent planners job can’t just be done by anyone…you need a seasoned experienced professional to guide your process and logistically build a wedding experience where you can truly just enjoy your time with the people you love and the people that love you instead of figuring out how to get the caterers truck out of the mud which is stuck behind guest cars because there was no proper valet 🙈
