The measuring mistake that makes every window look shorter and smaller than it actually is.
You're hanging your curtain rod too low.
Here's the fix: mount your rod halfway between the top of the window trim and the ceiling. That one change makes your ceilings feel taller, your windows feel grander, and your whole room feel more pulled together.
The second rule: your curtains should break at the floor. A light touch, not hovering, not pooling. The fabric type affects how much break you allow- linen shrinks, so give it a little extra room.
And the thing most people never think about: the pleat sets the tone for the entire window. More pleats reads more formal. Fewer pleats, more relaxed. That one decision is doing more styling work than people realize.
More on window treatments coming soon- there is a lot more to cover here.
Go look at your windows. You already know if this applies to you. 👀
