I was so excited to attend the Los Angeles Pottery Show today. It was a beautiful day in Glendale and a wonderful day to take in the gorgeous history of California pottery. The show was filled with an overwhelming number of beautiful pieces—row after row of remarkable antique and contemporary works.
I was also thrilled to meet the show’s producer, and I’m happy to share that I’ll be a vendor at next year’s show, where I’ll be selling my book along with a few special pieces.
And at the end of the video, you can even spot a photo of me at the show!

Same glaze, different forms — a closer look.
This reel is part of my ongoing, very casual series exploring Los Angeles Potteries pieces that share a glaze or color palette. This round, YELLOW gets its moment. ☀️

National Pie Day was yesterday — but pie (and good pottery) doesn’t need to be limited to one day. 🥧

Featured here:
🍋 A sunny yellow pie pan from 1971
🍐 A bowl with fruit accents — mid-century charm meets everyday function
🍏 An apple-shaped spoon rest that brightens any kitchen corner

These warm golden glazes were a favorite through the ’70s for a reason — they add light, warmth, and a little California soul to even the most ordinary kitchen moments.

If you want to explore more pieces like these (and hundreds more), they’re all documented in my book, Los Angeles Potteries: A Collector’s Journey Through Artistry, Craft and Heritage.

Happy New Year! I’m welcoming it with one of my favorite Los Angeles Potteries glazes—deep maroon pieces that feel both bold and refined. This grouping includes a classic console bowl, a sculptural sconce, and a beautifully balanced vase—forms that stand on their own or shine with flowers or fruit. The richness of this glaze changes subtly with the light, and it’s always a thrill to find familiar shapes appearing in unexpected finishes. If you’d like to learn more about the history behind these pieces, you’ll find it all in my Los Angeles Potteries book. Link in bio / Linktree. I love finding a piece I've never seen before. I found this on Etsy. It's a piece by Laurie Gates. And it says, "Laurie Gates Los Angeles Pottery Soup Cup and Plate Set". So, it must be large to be a Soup Cup. And depending on where you live, it's the perfect time of year for soup!
