SHBFAM, voting starts today!

You helped us bring home Best Specialty Shop last year, and I’d sure love to do it again. This year we’re also in the running for Best Local Furniture Store!

If we’ve built something for you, helped with a project, or you just like seeing what comes out of the shop, we’d appreciate your vote. Being a small family business, having people show up for us like this means a lot.

You can vote once a day in each category through October 28. Both links are below. Thanks for backing us and the work we love doing!

SHBFAM, you put us in the top 5 in TWO categories. Thank you! Now our next big project involves a ballot.

Behind every SHB piece is a local shop turning someone’s idea into something that belongs in their home or business. Your support helps more people find that work, and we’d love to bring this recognition home to Godfrey.

Voting opens tomorrow, October 15. Save these links:

Second Hand Barrels has grown into SHB Co.
Our new website is live: https://builtbyshb.com

It’s a closer look at what we build today and where we’re headed.

Many of you first found us through our barrel work. That craftsmanship is still part of our story. Today, our focus is on commercial spaces and substantial custom furniture: bars, conference tables, gathering spaces, and one-of-a-kind builds shaped around the people who use them.

We also welcome homeowner commissions, whether you’re bringing a room together or creating a piece with personal meaning.

We’re a family-owned shop in Godfrey, Illinois. Our approach starts with listening: what you’re building, how it needs to work, and the story you want it to tell. Then we bring that thinking into the materials and details.

Custom spaces. Memorable experiences. Pieces with a story.

The website brings together finished projects and the people and ideas behind them. Take a look around. If you’re planning a build, use the inquiry form to tell us about it or arrange a shop appointment. You can also call 618-610-7582.

Thank you for trusting us with your projects and sharing our work as we’ve grown. We’re glad you’re part of the story.

Always make time....

Make time to use what you have been given for something bigger than yourself. Make time to support the people doing good work. Make time to say yes, even when life and business already feel too full.

Thursday night, I received a message telling me that the piece we donated to Tunnel to Towers had sold at their live auction for $10,000. Yesterday, they shared the news publicly, and I am still struggling to put into words what it means to me.

I made this piece with my own hands, but the generosity belongs to the person who placed that bid, and the impact belongs to the heroes and families Tunnel to Towers serves.

I am humbled, grateful and honestly overwhelmed. This is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Always make time to do good. You never know how far it may reach.

Thank you to Tunnel to Towers for allowing SHB Co. to be a small part of this mission, and thank you to the winning bidder for turning a piece of our work into something much greater.

God is good.
God Bless America..

Sharing another exciting moment from the 2026 Golf of America Freedom Classic...

During the Freedom Concert, one of the highlights of our live auction was the incredible one-of-a-kind engraved barrel cap donated by SHB Co. Second Hand Barrels in Godfrey, Illinois.

Designed by Ryan Jenkins to commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary, this original masterpiece took more than 7 hours to engrave before being carefully hand-sanded and hand-painted. It sparked an intense bidding war as Kevin Schaeffer from Annbriar Golf Course worked the crowd.

With every new bid, the excitement continued to build. When the final bid was called...

$10,000!!🤯

Ryan Jenkins, **THANK YOU** for sharing your incredible talent, creativity, and generosity. Your one-of-a-kind donation made an extraordinary impact on the Tunnel to Towers mission.

To our winning bidder, **THANK YOU** for your incredible generosity and support.

Please join us in thanking SHB Co. Second Hand Barrels for this unforgettable donation and for believing in our mission!

While we have time, let us do good.
