Like many small businesses lately, we’ve had our share of hard moments. After a recent break-in caused significant damage to our store, we found ourselves investing heavily in stronger security and wondering a little about the state of things.
Then yesterday, something unexpected happened.
A woman walked into the shop carrying a piece of pottery. She explained that someone she knew had recently been arrested for shoplifting elsewhere, and while going through his belongings, she found this bowl with one of our price tags still attached.
She could have ignored it. Instead, she decided it deserved to find its way back home.
Small businesses survive because of people like this. Quiet acts of integrity. Strangers doing the right thing when no one is watching.
We’re grateful today — not just because a piece was returned, but because moments like this remind us that kindness and decency still exist all around us.
