I actually stitched! Gerr, life has been too busy to do as much embroidery as my heart desires! How can that happen when my business IS embroidery? hummm.

Here are a couple napkins from my new--in process--sassy cat pattern set. I stitched a couple others for a friend at Christmas, but forgot to take a picture. Dang. These will go to the same friend for her birthday....I'll get her a complete set yet!

I like the simplicity of the kitties. They are stitched on new blue napkins that are kinda fun too. They look a bit like denim. I used a light blue floss, again to keep it minimal. It'd be fun to see them with multiple colors. I know someone will stitch them that way!

There will be 6 or 8 different sassy cats in fun different poses....when finished!

Jesus is in the pages of the Old Testament. Yes, I said OLD. I read Psalm 22 this morning with it’s deeply moving and amazing predictions of Messiah’s suffering and of His ultimate rule of the nations. It’s quite astonishing for it was written many hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus.

The Psalm starts with a cry, a prayer pouring out feelings of being forsaken by the Father. Jesus quoted these verses on the cross. The chapter tells of being sneered at and being surrounded by enemies, who have pierced His hands and feet. They divide His garments among themselves. All those tings Jesus experienced for us. Interestingly the Psalm ends telling of His rule of the nations. The Servant is first, the King is to come.

These prophetic passages encourage me. These words are a testimony to the validity of my faith, for only God knows the end from the beginning. Only God foretells the future. He came. He will come again. I know because He said so. This hope is an anchor to my soul in these troubled times. My hope is in Jesus.

Want a good read this afternoon? Open Psalm 22. Who do you see in it?

Have a blessed Sunday.

Genesis and January go hand in hand. I love the book of beginnings. This morning I read the story of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his son. What a test of faith that was! It is also a beautiful picture of what God Himself would do 2000 years later when Jesus would come to give His own life to save us from our sin and reconcile us to the God.

The Genesis story is an introduction into the idea of substitutionary sacrifice. When Isaac asked Abraham where the animal was for sacrifice, he said “God will provide Himself a Lamb.” I don’t think Abraham knew how prophetic his words were. At the time, God provided a ram to take Isaac’s place and to die in his stead, but Jesus would be The Lamb.

“Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” John the Baptist said of Jesus. Isaiah the prophet said, he would be “like a lamb led to slaughter and like a sheep silent before it’s shearers.”

I’m thankful for God become man. I’m thankful this January morning for Jesus the Lamb of God.

Have a great wintery Sunday!
