Good Morning Everyone,
It has been a while since I provided an update as it has been a busy end to winter and start of spring. Current and recently finished project posts will be posted in the near future. For now, I took sometime to put together a quick video showing the steps of planing wood slabs that do not fit in a benchtop planer. This is my first go at putting a video or as Facebook calls it a reel together so hopefully it is not too rough. Have a great day!

As I get back into the woodshop more, I thought it would be great to share about a local organization doing great things for the community. The group is called Upcycle Bikes and they take in bikes in all conditions to fix them up and donate them back to the community to people in need. They give the bikes new life to provide individuals in need with new opportunities.

In support of this group, I created the bases of these signs to support the metal Bikes that were provided to their group. The signs will first be used at their upcoming First Annual Event: 2023 Bikes & Brews Birthday Bash on November 2nd. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2023-bikes-brews-birthday-bash-and-fundraiser-tickets-673323658187?aff=oddtdtcreator

If you have any old bikes you are not using anymore, then consider donating the bike(s) to give them new life!

Edit: For reference, the size of the block is a 4x4 that is about 2 feet long.

I've been back in the shop finishing projects this winter. There will be pictures and more to come in the following weeks/months of what we're up to. Also, if a certain someone sees this, yes your bar top will be ready for install in April once winter breaks. 😉

I thought I would provide a quick update today that the pursuit for beautiful slabs and inventory selections for everyone continues to be successful. Take a look at these two walnut slabs and all the figure and colors they have. I cannot wait to dive into sanding and finishing these to see how all the figure pops but first they will need to find a home or office. They are a little over 8ft long with the middle width at about 26" and the ends at around 32" wide. If you are interested then let me know as I should be able to complete finishing these in the next 6 months to a year if not sooner. (other projects to wrap up).

Here are a couple other fun projects that came out of the shop. The first is an engraved pencil for Kelly and her classroom. Our laser can engrave many different sizes and even different materials. Let us know if you have any ideas you would like us to possibly engrave for you.
The second item is a custom ashtray. This was a mix of walnut and spalted maple boards glued together. I then carved the general shape with an angle grinder and finished it with a lot of sanding. The middle is filled with epoxy to preserve the wood from heat and ash.

A project from last winter, that hit some snags, is now out of the shop(again) and is on the wall. Now let's get to some projects in this new year and clear out the backlog some!

The first charcuterie board and woodshop class is set for Saturday July 17th in the morning. If you are interested then please message us as we have a spot or two open. Here are a couple pictures of recent projects that are representative of what you should be leaving with after the class. Kelly and/or I will be reaching out to those who are signed up for sure and we will be asking for your email to send final details in the next week or two. 😀

Poll Time - Kelly and I would like to know who would be interested in a Charcuterie Board making class this summer. We would provide the wood, tools, and everything you need to complete the project. It would be on a Saturday later this summer with further details to follow-- if there is an interest. The cost would be $100 and we are thinking it would be approximately a two to three hour class. Let us know your thoughts and interest. Thank you.

We are close to getting back into the woodshop and getting caught up on projects. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures which were shared with me.
As some of you may know, we had a large oak tree cut down in our yard over a year ago. I had it milled and dried into some large slabs which I sold a few over the winter.

A customer who bought a few of our slabs, turned them into a beautiful table with a bench. The character in the oak is great.

The good news is that I have many more of these slabs available as I did not sell all of them.

If anyone has any project ideas then let me know while this oak is still around. Thank you
