Another labor of love, this time, in collaboration with the very talented Kristen Elizabeth Design. It was a pleasure to work with Kristen and her vision. We delivered this stunning handcrafted original to the clients this weekend. This console was designed with solid walnut, handmade and hand carved brass inlays, 122” wide to fit this grand entryway. We’re excited and anxious to see the final look of this space! Stay tuned!

This work in progress was a first for us. Stay tuned for the final pics in the coming weeks. Our client wanted an art installation front and back lit and mounted to distract from a very long drab stuccoed wall facing their outdoor living room . Considering all the challenges presented while building and installing these pieces everyone couldn’t be happier with the results. In this new nutty world full of material shortages and long lead times we pulled it off. We literally bought the last refined cedar board in the whole Sacramento valley at the time! We worked with Sherwin Williams to formulate a perfect custom stain to remove the natural pinkish hue and create a soft warm color to coordinate nicely with their exterior paint. Can you believe the stain in the can was green?! The side panels were designed to accommodate back lighting while the center piece will be softly front lit to showcase the handmade metal art piece. Our clients have been working tirelessly on the garden bed which will grow up and soften the look in the coming months. We think it’s a fabulous addition to an already gorgeous backyard worthy of Sunset magazine. It’s understandable why they contacted Surface, as we are designers and furniture makers, not a fencing company. It was all about quality and design details for this project. 🤓🤓

In progress! We are very excited to complete this beautiful 10 foot modern walnut console for our client. We hand made the brass butterfly inlays. Next up - hand carving for placement, final sand, stain, seal and white glove delivery. Stay tuned for pics of the finished piece along with several others! We’re a little behind on photography! Busy times….

We couldn’t be more excited about this current dining table project! It will be solid birch, modern with subtle unique design elements. We here at Surface have such a perfect partnership. One of us is passionate about the art and process of furniture design the other is passionate about heirloom quality engineering and craftsmanship. Synergy and inspiration are embedded in every piece. It’s always a great day to see happy clients. This mammoth of a coffee table is 60x48, solid white oak, hand picked planks, custom stained, clocking in at 175 lbs with no center support post and reinforced with steel. You could dance on this piece and we hope they do. Thankfully Chad, our lead craftsman, is an engineer. 😄
